One of the reasons why I have a special fondness of 3K users. Not everyone who uses it knows how to make it sing, but those who can, all of them make it sound differently in a way you wouldn’t know what they used.

I love this album from the first time I heard it. And if there's one thing I'd love to know after several years of listening to it, it's how the workflow was when using the different samplers and the Microkorg. Bass lines are the best by far. Greetings from Argentina!
@mac_dusty2 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot! And sorry for the late respons - the workflow isnt much to be said about to be honest. I sampled records, chopped them up, put some drums on it and then i used 16-levels (MPC thing where the sample gets spread over 16 pitches) and then played some basslines. The original bass sample was a lowpassed bass guitar. Once i had that i tried to get a variation going + some more layers to keep it interesting. As for the microkorg i sold that shortly after, i mainly used it SFX but I rarely found use for it to be honest. Feel free to hit me up with any other questions, and thanks for listening!

well i traded gear for mine but the grey ones (not Limited Edition) went for like 1k back then, which was like 2013 or so, which i think they still do, some dealers overdo it but with some luck and waiting game (i waited quite a while) you should be able to get one for not much more than that. good luck!

Hi Mac Dusty, love all you tapes. Keep making these gems please. Do you use the sp303 effects before or after sequencing on the mpc ? Would like to know that. Thank you
@mac_dusty7 жыл бұрын
Hi! Thanks a lot man, im actually in the finishing process of a instrumental album so keep an eye out for that. Regarding the sp303 i use it before the MPC meaning i sample into it, mess around a lil with the FXs and stuff and then resample into the MPC.

Great use of that sound effect from the MicroKorg in the first track. That program always annoys me, but you used it well.
@mac_dusty7 жыл бұрын
haha yeah before i used it in that beat i wondered who even used that preset. I sold the microkorg shortly after this tho cus to me it has a lil too "unique" vibe in the sound, people can spot the sounds from a mile away. However i sometimes miss some of those unique sound effects presets
@gamer-sama77696 жыл бұрын
Yeah! You're absolutely correct. I've noticed its use in like a country song while at work, Kid Cudi using the vocoder, and in Death Grips. It really does stand out. The MicroKorg is the first synth that I've ever owned and it's taught me so much, so I don't think I could ever part with it, just gotta change up the presets a bit and you can easily get some gnarly sounds though.
@nobodynam8 жыл бұрын
This is proper stuff bro, thanks for the art!
@iHateFakeRap7 жыл бұрын
sp 404,303 ect are all too clean for me. They don't have aliasing like the sp1200, so even I sample something in the sp sped up then slowed down, the stardust is more present and the lo-fi sound isn't as clean as the sp303, big difference on how I operate. I can always tell when someone is just using low fidelity/low bitrate as apposed to the stardust sound from the appropriate sampling methods of using an sp1200 properly. Blows my mind, someone hasn't cloned the sp1200 chip and created a modern machine with the same sound as the 1200. Would become a millionaire.
@mac_dusty7 жыл бұрын
I Dont Read Your Replies true but they do different things. i had the sp1200 and Sure it sounds cool but the note off was the main thing i wanted when i went for a mpc instead, just cant make the kind of basslines i want with the sp. But to each his own! I rarely use lo-FI nowadays. Thanks for listening!

What are you favourite Microkorg patches? Or do you create your own? I'm thinking specifically bass here.
@mac_dusty4 жыл бұрын
I sold it after a while, only used it for the ambient space sounds, the bass on these tracks is a filtered bass guitar sample. However i remember there was a really cool spacepatch i wish i could recreate!
