Finally MAC is a true 911 again and better than ever. He gets a big 3.2L engine mated up to a magnesium 915 transaxle. This should be a fun combo and gets me to phase 2/3 for this car.
Phase 1 was a 912 engine, Phase 2 is this stock 3.2L and some more suspension mods, Phase 3 is a build 3.5L engine and stronger 915 transaxle.
MAC should be driving again this week!

Sorry this video is a day late, but there's been a flurry of activity in the garage and I was waiting on some small transmission parts. Thank you for watching...this should be a fun car!

Great stuff Tom. It’s a testament to the fantastic work that you do that this milestone seems like a throwaway episode. 😅 “Oh, by the way I just put my 3.2 in Mac.”

Ha ha, I wish I could be more dramatic. First start won't be dramatic either because the engine was fully prepped and running on a test stand just hours before. All the KZbin gods suggest mistakes and anger. I don't like either, ha ha. But I do make mistakes for sure. I do have a great video coming about MAC though. It was made by an actual filmmaker!

Thank you for this video. Another cool video you always get me out into my garage to work on my car. Well right now I’m not able to touch any of my cars because I’m over in Hawaii on the big island Hilo, so I miss my Porsche’s and all my other collectible cars at the moment. But I will say I’m OK when I watch your videos all the time over here on the island. And I cannot wait to get back and hopefully meet you at one of the car shows hopefully Pelican Parts in Palos Verdes. I go or try to make it whenever I can but I have never seen you there at Pelican Parts on the Southbay side even though I’m pretty sure you live in Orange County. Well, thank you for all your videos. This is your subscriber on the West Coast Los Angeles, but over here at my second home in Hawaii. Thank you.🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽

You do an amazing amount of work in such a small garage. Looks to me like you might live in a HOA type of neighborhood. If so, I bet you could do a video on how do all this work in your garage and not get yelled at.

There's a reason why I always work with my big door down. We don't have an HOA here, but I try to be respectful. That may change with this muffler debacle, ha ha.

The header flanges should end about 2.5 inches behind where the timing chain covers are. Yours look a bit too long pushing the muffler back. If you cut them, you may also need to bend or realign them to mate the muffler because they are angled. Your formidable welding skills will come in handy here!

Cool, I wish I could have done a back to back comparison, but the transmission rebuild got in the way. I will do my best to compare the two though.

I had the same thoughts as you... Just section a bit of the exhaust pipe out on either side. Weird that it's that tight when there seems to be plenty of room.
@GarageTimeAutoResto
@GarageTimeAutoResto 11 ай бұрын
Well, to be fair this exhaust is for a Carrera and there is also supposed to be a cross over pipe for the heater. I think I can eliminate that and make the heaters still work.

@@GarageTimeAutoResto Ah! I didn't realize it was for a different setup. I'll be curious to see how you solve this one!
@GarageTimeAutoResto
@GarageTimeAutoResto 11 ай бұрын
I'm sure it will involve a welder😀. Long term I want to have dual center exhaust like the gt3, but that will take a while and require that rear panel to be painted again most likely.

G'day, Certainly looks like a nice install. Have you tried Vintage Speed. They deal in custom porsche exhaust systems as well as servicing the vw community. Could be a place just to get some ideas. Thanks for sharing the video ✌️Peace from Melbourne Australia

HI Tom, where are you going to mount the ecu etc?
@GarageTimeAutoResto
@GarageTimeAutoResto 11 ай бұрын
Under the seats or close to it. I have lowered seats with custom seat mounts so it may need to go in the vertical bulkhead by the rear seats. I don't plan on running the motronic forever, so as long as it's out of harms way for now, I should be good. The wire harness is stock.
