Nick Wright says there's no defending Mac Jones after the New England Patriots were crushed by Tua Tagovailoa and the Miami Dolphins in Week 18. The quarterback played his worst football at the worst time, and Nick has no faith the rookie quarterback will be able to pull off a win in the Wild Card round against Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills. Watch as Nick shares his thoughts on Mac's performance against the Dolphins.

Nick should worry about his beloved Chiefs instead of razzing Wildes. The Broncos ran over and physically beat them up Saturday. I see people making the mistake comparing brady to mac Jones because he has a better qbr but it is not right because back then it wasn't such a high offensive game as Today
@scratchpenny
@scratchpenny 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the passing numbers back then were way less by comparison. It always hurts Brady in those arguments because the modern numbers are inflated ever since the rule changes that benefited the offense. He's one of the only guys who actually played before those changes and is still in the league.
@scratchpenny
@scratchpenny 2 жыл бұрын
@@ankitbhasi7794 Even so, it's not valid to compare eras because of all the changes. A QB that played in those eras will consistently be devalued relative to their actual performance. It makes the modern players look better than they are, which benefits the media narratives and marketing, but it's not reality. Brady played in two different eras and thus is at a deficit when they use the new era stats to make claims. The most useful statistic in football wins percentage because the rules were the same for everyone when achieved. Besides, QBR is a sketchy stat. ESPN doesn't release the formula used to calculate it to the public, so how does anyone know if it's valid or not? They could be changing it when they don't get the results they want, making year-to-year comparisons completely invalid.

I can't decide what's more entertaining, the talk shows or games. I try and picture these guys going through their analogies before going on air. Most times it feels totally scripted like they prepped to push a particular narrative, when the next guy pushes back and presents his opinions, then in an effort to balance things the final guy points out the good and back in both arguments in an attempt at compromise that actually sounds sensible, but not willing to secede a free for all erupts. I call it; the push-pull-bend-open end set up, and its quite entertaining.

Nick is embarrassing himself to serve a narrative he established before Mac Jones had played a game, a-la his friend and mentor Cowherd. One he clung to when Mac was doing well. Why? God knows. Maybe he needs for Mac to bomb to keep the Pats from being a threat to his dreams of a Chiefs dynasty. But to say Mac is a "bad" quarterback disqualifies him from a rational discussion. Mac is a rookie. He's played more games this year than ever before and rookies don't fare well late in the season. Opposing defenses get a book on them AND they're exhausted.

No, but once he got his shot, he was winning championships. Winning solves all problems. There are a lot of talented players that get buried under losses. Brady got drafted to the right situation and has excellent relationship skills. Then he turned himself into one of the most skilled guys over time. But he always was a winner.

Mac Jones only seems good because he came onto a team that had a legendary coach and team with a solid defense. No other rookie qb benefited from the same treatment. Mac Jones got blessed with what he came into so of course he had a better year. If he gets drafted to the jags or the bears then he would've looked terrible. Also, nick is right about Mac playing terrible for the last 5 or 6 games to end the season. You can argue that Mac only contributed to one win for Patriots this season. The other wins were because of Bill and the defense. No one can dispute that. Mac Jones stats this season doesn't prove otherwise.

Hey Wildes, you mean like how everybody in Mahomes very first starting season (And even unfairly still now) Keep throwing Brady into the face of Mahomes? A guy 18 years older than Mahomes? You want to talk unfair comparisons.... But we all know the truth of the matter as to why the trolls do this...Because they know full well when you compare Mahomes to all the other (Repeat, ALL) the other YOUNG QB's like he is, he's DOMINATED them, like it's not even close the comparison... So the trolls run to daddy Brady and throw it in Mahomes face about losing the AFC title game and the SB, which we all know the truth on what happened in each one of those games...But odd enough, nobody won't bring up when Mahomes and the Chiefs went up to Foxboro in 2019 and beat Brady and the Pats, ending their 21 home game win streak.... Fact of the matter is, the QB's that didn't get it done vs Brady all those years, your Rodgers, Favre, Peyton, Wilson, Phillips, Warner, Brees etc etc, those are the QB's the trolls should be throwing Brady at...

Let’s take context into consideration- that was a good chiefs team that had a dependable Alex smith at QB with good skill position players and weapons around the team. They were also a Playoff team… In Mahomes starts his actual rookie year was Mahomes any good, he was average. He only exploded onto the scene the following year because he had that much more talent on the offensive side of the ball. Compare that to the team that Mac took over which didn’t make the playoffs last year and he still really doesn’t have a true number 1 target and they are VASTLY different scenarios

@@markglaviano9455 is 2018 the Patriots beat the ups and coming Chiefs 2, with the second one being the play off win. Sure they both happened in the same year, but those wins felt like years of dominance. You have to recall all the junk Nick was saying at the time about how washed up Brady was, and how great PM and the Chiefs were, blah, blah, blah, such a homer….

@@lakeozarkrei3767 sure the Chiefs have had their wins over NEP over the years but the 2018 season stuck out because guys like Nick were running their mouths about how the KC dynasty had already begun- but the rest of us were too stupid to see it. Then they got beat. And Nick still hates that Patriots logo as if it were the kid that bullies him in high school. The AFC will run through Foxboro again-Give it a couple years.

He brought us to the playoffs despite of coach Belichick (=> Cam Newton last season), this alone makes him a Baby-Goat. Big Problem: we beat no playoffs team under regular conditions: Bills = weather; Titans = massive injuries. Otherwise it were the Jaguars, Jets, Texans, Falcons or Panthers. Chargers was the strongest opponent we beat under regular circumstances. 200 mill Dollar in new players and the Baby-Goat cannot undo Belichick.

Mac Jones segments on this show are funny imo. It really doesn't matter how good or bad Mac Jones plays. Wildes will say he is great while Nick will say he's horrible. Mac had some good games and Nick would call him terrible in far more words. There was a week he had over 300 yards directly after Nick criticized him for that and he still went on to criticize him about... nothing really substantial (it's crazy that he mentions people moving goal posts in this exact segment for that reason). Then there's Wildes still calling him the baby goat after a bad week or the 3 pass game. The person I really look forward to hearing from on this topic is Broussard

If mac plays a little like a young brady he could get a win, brady wasn't potent, had a solid defense and the same coach that's there now. But I say this for sake of argument. I don't get much coverage of either team since I stay in cincy. So I cant say much I'm just excited to get these playoffs rollin. I would want the Bill's to change the narrative always being second to the Patriots despite their come up in recent years.
