Miguel Bernardes please don’t man, I know you’re trying to be nice but no one knew he was going to overdose, he didn’t know. And although it sounds like he’s saying it’s ok it’s not... don’t assume that because his death could have been prevented... and he would still be here, and this album would be less of a goodbye and more of a cry for help. I love that man so much, and forever will and he needed help.. To infinity and beyond my sweet soul. I love you Mac so much ❤️

ShaniaMelanie 17 He mentioned overdosing / death a lot, in interviews and music. As he became more involved with heavier drugs he acknowledged the possibility of him overdosing by doing too much, or getting something laced. He ended a few albums like they’re send offs just in case he passed. He sounded more tired and resigned on later projects, not like he wanted to die necessarily, but like he wasn’t fighting it anymore. He seemed like he started embracing the possibility, and he was kinda coping by being honest with himself. That’s just my opinion though, based on my personal connection to his music. We don’t get to hear him say how he feels about these things anymore unfortunately, but this is a great project that gives some closure.

I can’t compare faces and older stuff to the stuff he released near the end and stuff like this album, he grew beyond rap music and infused so much more than hip hop music
@Mqxwell4 жыл бұрын
@@jazzyb3424 The only thing I'd have to disagree on is saying Faces is just hip hop. It obviously has more hip hop vibes than Circles, for example, but Faces was so much more than just hip hop. Tons of jazz influence, psychedelic rock, and hip hop are the few I can think off the top of my head. Paired with poetic bars and out of this world beats I'd say Faces still tops it. I do recognize that I'm biased, and I might not be able to give an objective view on the matter, so this is mostly just my thoughts. I truly love all of Mac's music though everything from before 09 to present, Faces just has a special place in my life that nothing else from Mac or any other artist can even compare to. Have a lovely day :)
@jazzyb34244 жыл бұрын
Bewix oh no doubt no worries, I wasn’t really trying to say his older stuff is strictly hip hop though because he’s always had deep influences in other genres, I just mean the newest of his work he was doing so much non rap stuff that it’s really hard to even consider it that, like he’s playing the instruments, singing, he was also becoming more singing dominant when it came to vocals, he just wasn’t rapping anymore, and a lot of times you can go through multiple tracks without him really going in for bars at all. I definitely agree with all the things you’re saying though I just needed to explain myself a little better, we can all definitely agree it was a blessing to have a guy like Mac making music!
@Mqxwell4 жыл бұрын
@@jazzyb3424 Total facts. I'm not very religious, but I know we're blessed to have heard and seen such a legend live. When I was younger and hearing projects like Faces for the first time I always had these thoughts of showing my kids (if I have some) his music and I always wondered what Mac would look like when he was 70/80.. Of course, I won't be able to find out the answer to my question, but I most definitely will be sharing his music with anybody who hasn't heard as time goes on. I do also hope we get a collection of unreleased stuff. Obviously, I don't think they can release something as cohesive and complete as Circles, but I'd love to hear the hundreds of ideas he had. I also know that in doing so, his family has to almost relive this tragedy and I completely understand wanting to have time to heal/find peace. I mean, I'm sure no amount of time can ever really heal somebody after what happened, but maybe in a few years, I'd love to hear more. Peace and love to his family and all you out there :)

Perfect way to end his discography. Legendary album. love to his family who actually thought this out and didn’t do it for a blatant money grab. they actually care. Also jon brion said mac and him done about 95% of it already so it’s not like mac had hardly any input the album is pretty much exactly how he wanted to put it out as. There are very few artists I connect with more than on a musical level. Mac was one of those artists for me. Like everyone else says, I feel like I lost a friend I've never met. For me it was his truthfulness, his rawness, and the willingness to just put all of his life out there to everyone through music. It was almost like venting when I listened to his albums. He spoke to me truthfully, venting his issues/life situations and in turn it caused me to be honest with myself about the issues/situations I was going through. I'll forever be grateful for that. RIP Mac. This was a beautiful ending to your beginning.

Bravo sir, your reactions are so genuine and you articulate what a lot of us can’t.

this album was so cathartic for me. i've always struggled with depression. it's a mental state that not many can understand and truly empathize with. mac could always so eloquently put into words the way your thoughts just eat you alive. the highs and incredibly low lows that make you feel like you're running in circles. i didn't give mac a chance until swimming, and now the loss of someone who truly gets it, who was so like me, is so profound that it's haunting. the acceptance he felt about his end being near, the yearning for a future he may never have, the accountability heard in 'that's on me' -- it all just kills me. but this album lets me know he'd come to a peace and he very obviously wanted us all to know that. i have so much respect for him. this album reminded me of elliott smith, of course, with touches of neutral milk hotel, all with mac's unique vibe. i'll always be sad that we couldn't see where mac may have gone, that maybe he would have come out on the other side and found real contentedness, but i'll always love him for being who he was and bringing awareness to the fact that life isn't for everyone. money won't make you happy. your squad can't save you from yourself. a relationship can't change who you are. be patient with yourself and find your own peace. thank you for your work on this, jon. i know youtube is being a real dick about it. lots of the other reactions are relatively vapid, which is fine if you're only listening and judging this album like you would any other hip hop project, but it's apparent you feel connected to mac's work, too. it's so nice to see people come together for him.

By far the best music reviewer on KZbin , mainly because you actually non biasedly appreciate the music whether its your vibe or not, you’re amazing at breaking down how it’s produced and even great at interpreting the lyrics. Very genuine and I’m glad I found your page mate

This album is so beautiful, and you took the words from my mouth when you said it wouldn’t sound the same if he was here, but this is perfect for the circumstances, and they still managed to make the album feel so pure! No other artist will ever be like Mac, his growth was a slow one, and he only truly found himself on Swimming, and Circles. I grew up with Mac, listening to KIDS and Best Day Ever when I was 16. It hard to comprehend how far he’s come, and how much his music matured. Mac being gone is a real life nightmare because we all wanted to grow up with him, but Circles gives us all a big hug and says “it’s ok, I’m at peace. Enjoy my music”. Like Miller’s family said, “we are left to imagine where he was going”... this is as special as it is sad, and I know I won’t ever get this feeling again for any other artist or album. So powerful. Love your videos and your reactions, they’re so raw! We all feel what you’re feeling man!

Even after death, the dude still inspires me. The only artist younger than me I look up to. He was more than just a rapper, he developed into a musician and artist.

Major respect to you Jon and I thought this was a great video. We truly appreciate seeing/hearing your opinions on the work of somebody who guided many of us through life. I would LOVE to see Watching Movies With The Sound Off next from Mac. One of my favorites. Peace and love to you all.

Seeing the evolution from Watching Movies to this is so astounding. Anyone discovering Mac recently absolutely needs to listen to that album.

@@austinh8522 Absolutely. Faces, Macadelic, Run On Sentences Vol 1 & 2, Delusional Thomas, GO:OD AM, Blue Slide Park, and basically everything on his Soundcloud are also a must listen if you like Mac. Fuck, basically his entire discography is worth it. There is just so much good music it is almost too much to handle. SO many good features and beats. A ridiculous amount of bars and meaningful lyrics. He truly was something special. He was also always changing and improving. You could listen to all of his music in order and never get bored or feel like he made some song twice, which is absurd considering he made hundreds and hundreds of songs. It makes me so happy to see all the Mac fans and new ones talking about such a great person. It hurts tremendously to see him gone, and I cannot even imagine what his family is going through, but I'm so glad he will not be forgotten and his life is truly being celebrated. A legend never dies.

It couldn't have turned out better! Total chills through the whole thing. My niece has one of the top fan pages on Instagram and put together his Birthday get together for tomorrow. She made the Pittsburg news paper. We are both hug fans and always will be. I still can't believe the kid is gone!

Jon! your musical prowess shows every video man. So many reaction channels simply hear the song, you actually "HEAR" the song, behind the words and behind the instruments..You've grown so much, to the point where you are more knowledgable than a lot of life long fans of Hip Hop and Rap. Nothing you does comes off ingenuous, all authentic. It makes every video you do special. Excellent job JD. Excellent.

U used the perfect word for this album: pleasure. It really is a pleasure to all of us, fans, and people who are discovering his music right now to see such an amazing piece of art. I'm just in love with this album. Of course, it's sad to hear some things, think about what he was passing and how he was feeling at the time, but at the same time is so comforting, make us feel all the love and energy of having one last Mac thing. I don't know about the others, but that album passed, at least for me, a message like "besides all the things, i'm trying, i'm fighting and i'm ok". So yeah, "pleasure" it's just the perfect word for this

Been a fan of Mac Miller since his High Life mixtape in 2009. I had met Mac twice. Once when we were randomly at the same club in Columbus, Ohio and I just happened to be wearing a Most Dope t-shirt. He noticed my shirt & invited me & a few friends to come kick it in VIP with him and his crew. We got drunk af with Mac & the Most Dope crew and they are still to this day some of the coolest people I've ever met. We vibed & cracked jokes like we'd all been friends our whole lives. Easy to say it was one of the best nights of my life. Then a couple months later when Mac was performing in Columbus I bought tickets to go see him. We got there super early to be towards the front of the line for general admission. While we were waiting in line, Mac & Clockwork came over to a gate to say hello to some of his fans. He instantly noticed me and came out and gave me a hug and laughed about that night at the club. He was just a real genuine good dude. When he passed it felt like I lost a friend. Because I did. Since he passed the question of why has bothered me. Why did he get to the point that he was abusing drugs so much that they took his life? This album helped me to realize that he was such a selfless person that he didn't want to put the burden of his problems & his thoughts on anyone else. I myself suffer from this same problem. But Mac has inspired me to talk to the people I love most not only about my problems & how they can help but also how I can help them with theirs. Mac was a good soul who has inspired millions of people in many different ways and his music will live on through us. Rest in peace Malcolm McCormick. We miss you brother

I'm a little late, but it actually is! It's a cover of an Arthur Lee song of a similar name - "Everybody's Gotta Live" from 1972.

It truly is a work of art. I've never had an album effect me like this emotionally before. Admittedly I am not a diehard Mac Miller fan and really only started paying attention to him after Macadelic but it doesn't take a diehard fan to appreciate the dedication that Malcom put into his music. It's the goal of the artist to express their emotions in a way that others can understand and relate with. It's for this reason that I feel that this album will go down in history as one of the best examples musically of an artist using their "canvas" to convey their emotions to an audience. Every time I listen through it I find some subtle nuance that just continues to remind of the pure genius songwriting that Malcom was capable of. I am so thankful for his family and Jon Brion making sure this was seen through to completion. I don't think we could ask for better closure.
