Dang. I was hoping to get some clarity on the Analog vs. Input taps. However, I just answered my own question while referencing the signal path diagram in the manual. The Analog option takes the signal straight from the preamp. The Input option taps after the phase button and USB return trim, but before the low-cut, and FX insert. The Pre-EQ taps after the gate and before the EQ. (The compressor is after the EQ.) The Post-EQ tap might be better labeled as Pre-Comp, supplying an uncompressed signal. The Post-Fade tap is last and comes after the mute, so there's only one option.

Thanks so much for that! It was exactly what I was trying to figure out.

I don't know why all this is so complicated for me to digest, but this is the best explanation I've seen so far! I think I will be coming back to his video several times. Thanks so much!

Diego de la Fuente ......I.think most of us are very confused by this. You are not alone with this. I keep coming back to this dudes videos as well. They are much better than the Behringer ones! !
@timothymaxwell8912 Жыл бұрын
I agree with you. This is very confusing because, so far, everyone that I have seen explaining routing, talks as if you already understand the jargon and know what they are talking about. Why can’t someone just start from the beginning, as if you had never used this equipment before. If you are already familiar with the equipment there would be no need to kill your time watching their hard to understand videos. In this video, he starts by referencing Input 01 and it’s relationship to Channels 01, etc. But he never clearly explains what the input and channels actually are. He assumes that you already know that. But if you just purchased this equipment, you can’t possibly know what he is talking about.

Pretty sure the Comp is after the EQ in the signal chain, so I believe that's where you'd see the difference between Post EQ and Pre-Fader. Pre-Fader would have compression on it where as Post EQ would not.

MP, Can you tell me if I need to have the X air edit app open when trying to use the Behringer x air 18 just as an audio device? My other audio hardware devices do not require their software be open but I'm not sure about the x air hardware. and if I use the usb cable can I connect to x air edit app or must that be done on wifi? Thanks again!!! I did figure out how to connect directly to the x air 18 via ethernet cable running it directly to the remote port (Not using a router) that seem to be working great so far. and that way I can be on the internet wifi and control the x air. :)
@MusiciansPro8 жыл бұрын
Bishop Bautista - you don't have to have your software open, it will function with its current settings. Of course you will not be able to make any changes. USB is for recording IO only. WiFi and Ethernet is for control only.

Is there a way of assigning the main mix to a bus? I want to have a monitor that gets the FoH mix.

Thank you for the clarity. One question. I record my drum from my XR18 via USB to Reaper DAW in multitrack. From your words I understand that if I want to record the sound containg EQ, gate and compressor I should use the Post EQ or Post Fader mode. However when I tried everything started to go in distorsion and oversounding. Probably I have some wrong configurations in Reaper however I'd like to have your confirmetion that this is the way. Tks Roberto

Great video. I have a question you may be able to help me with. I have 16 track recorded in my daw. I currently play them back to my x18 as a stereo via 17/18 what I want to do is bring them back via usb from my daw ( protools) and assign them to each individual input , not to a stereo pair on 17/18. I set all the inputs to usb but that did not work. What an I missing ? Any help appreciated

Question, if I'm sending my Main L/R out to USB for Live streaming Purposes, should I send everything Post Fader so it prints my eq etc to the main out hitting the stream? I always feel like when I sound check via the headphones on the mixer, it sounds great, but the playback of the live stream sounds all over the place. thanks.

Hi I appreciate your videos! Thanks for sharing! I am having issues trying to get the sound from the XAIR mixer to go out from the USB direct to my Mac computer or Sony PXW-70 Camera. We are streaming but the sound is not going direct and we are hearing other voices from the room instead of direct sound from the camera. Can you please give some advice? Thanks!

Help, I'm recording a voice track (X Air 18) to an iMac, using Grageband. I don't understand how to correctly adjust the MIC GAIN vs USB TRIM. I'm getting clipping in the voice track. I'm also not sure how to get the correct loudness, to match up to the live instruments (bass, guitar & mandolin). Any advice? Gil

So, by switching USB 01 / 02 to Post Fader Main L/R will allow me to capture my full band and send the stereo mix to a daw, or say OBS? I'm looking for the best way to send a stereo mix into a streaming software called OBS. We have 4 mics on drums, a bass di as well as front cab di, and a mic on the guitar, with 2 vocals. I basically want to send the summed stereo mix down as cleanly and clearly as I hear it via the monitoring out the usb into a program that see's the X Air 18 as an audio input/output source.

L O Hi- did you get this sorted? This is almost exactly what I am trying to do- 4 mic inputs into my XR18, output to speakers on stage and take a stereo mix out the USB port on the front to OBS on my Mac. OBS already recognises the USB input as an audio input and the meters are dancing up and down on XR18 software but I am not getting any signal output from USB. I guess I have not routed properly...

@MusiciansPro7 жыл бұрын
Of course the XR12 is going to be a little different than the XR18, but it is not radically different, they are almost identical. The only differences deal with features that are NOT in the XR12. What specifically are you having issues with?

I've been sifting videos for hours, just trying to get my Reaper playback to come out my speakers. Every video I've seen is using Mac software of 5 years ago.
