I am using a macbook air running loop community Prime software to provide backing tracks. We are using the same mac to run XR18 edit software and Logic Pro to multitrack record. I need help figuring out how to record the backing tracks that are coming into the XAIR edit app channels via usb. They don't show up in Logic. We have the channels in logic set to the same channels on the XAIR channels. We can record the live instruments but the input that are usb don't record. However we do hear them coming through the main and monitors

Hello, I am running DP9 and I have an XR-18. My question has to do with routing. Say I am mixing 8 tracks from DP and I am processing (eq;comp;etc) these with the mixer. How do I route the stereo output of the mixer back into my DAW so that I can record the stereo mix from my mixer back into DP. Where do I 'tap' the mix? I am confused...thank you, Kelly

Very easy. All you need to do is send your LR out USB 1/2 and create a new stereo track in your DAW with inputs from USB 1/2. Now record your mix down to the new stereo trk.

+Kelly Bryarly Thank you for your quick response! So, in the routing matrix (in X air Edit - on a Mac) I go to the 'USB sends' tab and re-route the USB send 1/2 to the 'Main' instead of the default 1/2?

I'm using a XR18/P16 for personal monitoring. Is there a way to rout multiple XR18 inputs, like 8 drum channels, down 2 channels of the P16 line?

So for the monitor tab which you mention around 5.44, can you send one of the sick aux outs to it? Or which monitor / aux out is it default to?

Are there 6 buss on all Air products. IE the X12 only has 2 aux physical outs, do the 6 show up on software. Reason I ask is I want to insert a graphic across aux 5/6 and send only lav mics to it & then send those aux to L/R. Is that possible?

How would you get channel 17\18 to run like the main mix outputs I have a camera that will allow me to come from the mixer to the camera and I use all my aux sends for monitor s tried doing it tonight but my computer was updating and really like to have a little clue before I go and stuff all mest up

On the AUX TAB, if we keep the default routing (auxes fed by buses) but change the routing position to Pre EQ Post Eq... bla bla options, what is the result? thanks very much...

now do you do sub groups so you can compress those channels selected and send them to the mains(L&R)

Quick clarification: When I select my XR18 as audio output in Mac's Sound preferences, the audio appears to come into my XR18 on ch 1 & 2. The sliders don't seem to affect the volume. I'd also like to map the system audio to ch 7/8, because I need the Hi-Z inputs on 1 & 2. Any suggestions on how to make this happen? Thanks in advance! Appreciate the great tutorials thus far! :-)

Bill Shafer You can re-map on the MAC in the AUDIO MIDI SETUP program or you can re-map USB 1/2 in the XR18 to any of the 18 channels or FX returns. In the XR18, just go to any 2 channels or 1 stereo channel/fx return, goto the INPUT tab and select USB 1/2.

What is the best option to duplicate the inputs into a multi-track recording session. I have tried post eq. I haven't tried analog plus mute. What I do is mic the drums and send them to sends 5/6. I have them for headphones and mirror the signal to the mains. I do not run the mains while we rehearse. I only run vocals in a pair of monitors run in mono. I have one other stereo monitors that I balance all the vox and blend my piezo signals. Guitar signals and bass are direct. They are sent to the 5/6 headphones mix only. I have been sending the USB channels 1 through 16 into my PreSonus Artist Studio 1.2 DAW. What do you suggest. I really have been trying to find a more thorough explanation of the various routing choices. I sort of understand it. I want to understand it better. I know that Post and Pre Fader are. I get Post and Pre Eq. I would love to see a video that explains those options. Thanks

I am not sure I understand the USB Returns. What do they affect? How do we use them?

Chris Janton When you have a DAW hooked up to the USB port of the XR18, you need a way to route the DAW tracks into the XR18 to be mixed. USB RETURN is how you do this.

MusiciansPro so I can completely confuse myself by having XR USB 1 outbound, with XR USB 1 inbound actually mapped to 2 (or 16, or whatever). OK - thanks - I will leave that alone until I figure out a decent use case

Only used if you have audio coming in via the USB jack.

Savion Lee - No. If it was before those you would little to no signal. It is directly after those and before any processing.

OK I have a really hot lapel mic I need to route it to a bus and then have the bus route to the mains so that I can have a separate 31 band EQ to ring out that particular channel what is happening is when the guy walks out in front of the main speakers it is feeding back and the only way I can control it is with the mains 31 band EQ and that is pretty much killing the sound of the system

Clarification on P16M: it is ONE monitor mix. You will need a P16M for each wedge, in-ear, or other type of mix, and to connect more than 1 P16M by UltraNet you will also need a P16D which is essentially an UltraNet switch or router if you want to look at it that way.
