I've repaired half a dozen of these now, the logic boards tend to respond REALLY well to a re-cap and a trip through the dishwasher.

idk, I have a Mac Classic II with about the same extent of damage. I ran it through the dishwasher and rubbed around all the ICs with alcohol and lo and behold it worked again!

Anyone else amused by the "FU YU" markings on that cover plate? Like, "I thought this is a battery port but no...all I got was a big FU YU!"

20 years ago when these macs was showing up in all the thrift stores. They all worked without a hitch. Now we got bad cap horror.

The original Classic is probably my favorite compact mac for one reason above all else, it has the OS in ROM! But maybe to sell more hard drives, they kept it hidden, and it requires a key combination to access it. Hold down Command+Option+X+O on boot to get to it.
