James Earwood we did not but like anything patience and Jelly beans tend to work best. Perhaps get to sit on seat on the ground, get her comfortable.

I’m looking into getting a Mac ride and fat tire bike for winter riding in The snow belt (Great Lakes region) with my almost 3yr old daughter. We need to get her new outdoor play clothes anyway, and I was leaning towards Outdoor Research Adrenaline Mitts, and Sorel Snow Commander boots... can you please give recommendations on ALL of your daughters winter gear (Boots, pants, jacket, neck/face protection, goggles, different helmet?, mittens)? ... How do mittens (or any of her other winter gear) affect her ability to hold on?

I've been looking into this vs the Shotgun. How comfortable is the Mac ride seat.. I look at it compared to the shotgun, and it just looks really hard..

Our kids have not complained about the seat. Is is a softer plastic with a rubberized coating, you can sink your finger nails into it kind of soft. That said it is not as plush as the Shotgun seat. Both seats are really well made and a blast to ride with

@@TheBikeDads Thanks for the quick reply. I bought the Mac Ride on Friday as it has a higher weight capacity than the Shotgun. I Also like how the seat in contoured. To me it looks a bit more secure compared to the shotgun.

We rode with just holding on to our bars as there wasn’t much back when we started. The new Shotgun bars handlebars are awesome.

You do have to adjust your pedaling a little bit. The width of your child’s hips will dictate your pedaling position.

We went on some long rides. But you have to keep it reasonable. If they get bored and fall asleep it’s a total nightmare.

Speak for yourself....my daughter just turned three and she's 45lbs. ;-) Definitely planning to pick one of these up next month though. She loves her strider, hopefully I can instill a love of mountain biking in her at a young age. ...and be able to get out more myself!

She's not obese. Going by the height chart she's also right in the middle of the 6 year old range. I'm 6'2, it seems she is also going to be tall.

Aren't you worried your child might fall off when riding downhill so fast? Other than foot straps, it seemed there was no restraining harness or bell etc. What if they let go of their grip?

EdenSocial this is for parents comfortable on a mountain bike. If you don’t mountain bike, don’t get this. If you were to fall, you wouldn’t want them strapped to 35 lbs of bike. The father away the better. That said, you should never be in a position where you would fall.

Andy Hall really depends on the temperament and willingness of the kid in that particular day. Depends if you stop along the way etc. We do 30 min to 2 hours with stops, snacks, etc

JustLovelyLondon nope, never. Over 2 years and they are good to go. Ride with caution as any seat with kids and you will be fine. Must have if you are a mountain biker and want to get on some mellow single track.

There are straps on the feet but you want to ride within your limits as you don't want to crash with your kids. Kids need to listen to directions and not be too tired. The off road seats require the kids to be alert, Not like a trailer or an ibert
