I never realized how depressing Mac's life is: -his father is absent -the brother bullies him every day (and their mother seems oblivious to it) -they can only afford to live in a small, cramped flat -he doesn't seem to have a lot of friends at school -because of the latter, he had to imagine Bloo, and there are times when Bloo is a total jerk If he's this angry as a kid, I can't imagine what he'd be like as a teen.

I wish I had Mac as my little brother so I can always take good care of him because I feel really bad about him having a sad life. Like he’s 8, he doesn’t deserve all this.

Not at times. Almost all the time. Bloo in the pilot movie was compassionate, reliable and good natured. Someone that Mac really needed. Thanks to executive meddling. Bloo from episode 1 and onward is a sociopathic, emotionally manipulative, callous, spoiled brat who takes advantage of his friends. Mac has got it rough.

Honestly when you consider Mac's life and circumstance he makes sense why's he's angry. While I wish the show delved into it more, the fact you get hints as to how awful his life is makes quite a few things make sense. He has an absent father, an older brother who goes out of his way to bully him, has to live in a crappy apartment, doesn't seemed to have many friends at school, if at all and because of these circumstances he imagined Bloo. In the context of his life, it makes sense why Bloo means enough to him to not want to let him go, its because Bloo is the one thing he has in his life that gives him something. While Bloo himself is an awful friend post Season 2, it makes that element of Mac's life worse when you consider this is what he has a best friend and imaginary friends do inherit traits from their creator, Bloo can also be seen as a manifestation to teach Mac how not to behave, but has his occasional wild side moments. I also think his anger makes sense, when you consider his life and the chaos Bloo brings its no wonder he gets progressively more angry as the show goes on. I also think his friendship with Goo makes sense, because she is also of similar circumstance.
