Spent 4 years in a British school near Lisbon from 1970 to 1974 and they were the the best years of my life. I never did understand cricket but I appreciated the strict discipline, the uniforms, and that the school instilled a proper respect for authority, language, personal accountability, and responsibility. I was 11 when I arrived in America after Portugal's 1974 Carnation Revolution. I never learned anything here in school that St Julian's hadn't already covered before I was 12. I am sure that British education went downhill since then but it gave me a good start, and made me incomprehensible to my peers here, and far too wordy. So while I am not at all British (just American) I have always appreciated the British sense of humor. 5 decades later I'm still too wordy and incomprehensible because of what St Julian's did to my vocabulary. (Alas) It made me a pariah in both the USNAVY and USARMY, and is useless now that the internet exists. Nobody cares about Latin, Greek, French, (or English) or a classical education over here. Again, I am sure British education is nearly as bad as American now, because they're even more socialist than we've become, and I wouldn't wish it on anyone but I liked St Julian's. Yes, Minister is my favorite TV show of all time, coming in a distant 2nd is The George Burns and Gracie Allen Show. After over a decade of continuous watching; last year I could no longer stand the gratuitous cursing and liberal political propaganda 3RFTS(tm) kept pushing, so I took the box set to Goodwill along with the Blackadder(tm) series box set. I would rank Blackadder(tm) higher than either The Burns and Allen Show, or 3rd Rock from the Sun(tm) but it had too much gratuitous sex, violence and cursing too, and that was desensitizing me. That's never good.

When used to define a system of nationwide governance, “Socialism” means the hypothetical stage after communism, when the Communist state has withered away to reveal a nation led not by a government, but by the common aims of workers and their labour relationships. (Not that I think that is a good or bad thing- just explaining what it is and why the U.K. is not “Socialist”!) Some of the best things about being British are our social institutions: our NHS, primary schooling, surestart centres , and our duties of care for eachother. Of course, after over a decade of underfunding, none of these institutions are functioning as they should. Nevertheless, for me, part of what it means to be British is that we care for eachother. After WWII, we effectively wrote a new social contract and agreed to treat ourselves and eachother more equitably.

Maybe I am not getting the jokes, but I hardly find it funny to even smile a bit. I came here because of some mutual actors of Black Books, mainly Tamsin Greig. I thought the humor is similar to it. But nope! It is extremely unpleasant to watch. I go back watching Black Books for the like 10th time.

47:17 That is Not a Flute , That is a Piccolo .But she knows how to hold it correctly . A Flute has the mouthpiece on the end, Not the side near the end meaning piccolo . My Mother played the Piccolo.

@Bob Hobson is right, only recorders, clariets and oboe's have mouthpieces at the end of the instruments. Flutes & piccolos are played "sideways".

Yes it is. Piccolo is just the name for a specific type of flute.
