Try their C shades (C6, C7, C8…) I have olive undertones and it works so much better! Doesn’t oxidize orange at all!!

This was very helpful, thank you so much! I went to the store and got matched to NC44 but came home to find it too orange for my skin (medium olive) and it oxidizes quite a bit as well. According to my research looks like I might be NC 40 or NC 42. Glad you found your shade match!

i remember when i first went to mac to get my skin shaded for my tone. the makeup artist put me as nc 42, and when she first applied, i felt it was too light. then she said it'll oxidise, no worries. i listened to her despite my apprehension and bought my makeup, after walking around, within half hour, i noticed the make up oxidises so well and looks perfect on my skin lol

Very useful. Please do a full face of 43.5 and show a wear test. So that we can clearly see how much it dulls down!

Hi Julianna, I find every one of those colours in skin tone. Thing is; no one's skin is completely uniform one colour. And it depends on how the the light/shade hits your face.. all given, I think you made a great choice.

The NC42 looks great on you!! I used to wear NC40 but realized it wasn't warm enough for me so I switched to NC42.

I used the NC44 and found it oxidized to a shade that was too dark or red-orange looking. I switched over to NC40 and NC42 and found both of those blend out better for me.

same thing happened with me I bought nc44.5 and it oxidizes like crazy makes my face look red but I finally have found my shade NC42

I love mac foundations and before you even applied it I knew your shade would be NC 42. I also hate how their foundations oxidize but the Mac matchmaster doesn't do that. You would be shade 5.0 in that. Give it a try.

Having a slightly darker shade on the face also makes it look pretty as it puts a slight tan on you which is natural for many colored people.

I once had nc40 in studio fix-the undertone is not right, i dont have peachy undertones, i had the pro long wear in nc40 and it was to orange on me😵‍💫 i now ordered nc41 & nc42 to see how they compare. I used to mix the studio fix nc40 & pro long wear in nc40 and i think the color was a bit better, i think im more neutral yellow..im so confused 😄

This was helpful, thanks for sharing! I struggle with shade colors too as my skin tans or fades. I also bought a Mac foundation that was too dark for me, and I ended up blending it with a lighter shade of fix fluid. This worked better. I’ve also seen these shade mixers by other brands to adjust foundation colors. That might help to still use your darker shade investment.

You have to look at her neck aswell. NC45 is too dark while NC42 matches everything perfectly
