Trying Macaco can be help me to remove my fear to jump backward when I do back handspring?
@joelthesupergamerboy8427
@joelthesupergamerboy8427 10 ай бұрын
Yea It can help you if you work the maccao and get use going straight backwards more other than sideways then you will get over that fear of going backwards. But some people do backhandsprings using kip ups to help with the fear. Doing backhandsprings with a spotter will help you learn it faster but sometimes not everybody has a spotter but practing Maccaos always help get use to going backwards.

Thanks lots. Need to start learning stuff but didnt want to risk to much without having something under me other than ground. This will deffinentally help me start on the back flip, this, probably back handspring, then back flip?

@KidBlack74 Do you jump to the side as like a confidence builder? Most people start by jumping to the side, then gradually going further and further over as there confidence builds up.

I have a question, would it be easier on a trampoline or on grass? The only reason why I am asking this is because on a trampoline it might give me too much of a spin and also I wouldn't be used to the grass if I tried it after the trampoline practice. I want to make sure not to hurt myself because I landed on my neck once while trying a backflip... Dont want that again...

with a strong kick you don't need to worry about your hand, but you will totally lack control and smoothness, try going sideways and then going backward, that will help woth fear. and yes, macaco is one of the most importants moves to know before learning bhs, it will help with the back bend, so it will make it look smoother.

I've been drilling my bridges recently. Should I also work on some back-handsprings in order to become a little more comfortable with the backwards momentum?
@joelthesupergamerboy8427
@joelthesupergamerboy8427 10 ай бұрын
Backhandspring can help you get use to going backwards but I recommand also trying to do a hadstand if you want good backhandsprings otherwise you will do them too short and bend your arms and not get as much power. It requires a alot of flexability and strength and more dangerous than backflips.

Hey i'm having problems with putting weight on my first arm. No matter how i twist it when i put it down, i seem to have really awkward shoulder pressure. Am I supposed to be putting a lot of weight on that arm, or trying to jump over it, more like a handspring?

@VaqueiroAruanda
@VaqueiroAruanda 12 жыл бұрын
I had the same problem for a loonnnnnng time. It's not bc you're scared... For me what helped is really concentrating on the hand position. The hand that hits the ground first should be on the same line as your foot. If you put it directly behind your back, you'll end up turning to cartwheel before you even jump. If you train in a hall, use the lines on the floor to orient yourself. The other important thing is to swing the other hand straight back, not across your body. Hope that helps.

My own practicing on the macaco is, since I adore capoeira so much, I prepare for the macaco by doing the cocorinha (squat) as usual, plant the hand that will be the support for the "salto" that will happen, and I push my legs off as a catapult to do a lateral cartwheel (usual "au") but only on that planted arm...instead of going straight back than a typical macaco. When I am confident about this, only then I will attempt to do a straight-back form of the macaco. If everything clicks; I'm glad!

Hey, nice tutorial. But I have a problem, when I try to do it, I kinda go to the side, not over. And to me, it seems that I lack power to push my legs over, otherwise the going to side should look something like a cartwheel, but it doesn't. Help please.

To fix this issuse don't look over your shoulder, don't throw your arms sideways throw them back behind you head and trying them past your head. Look straight ahead. Don't lean sideways keep the body straight. Don't twist to the side. Don't travel sideways. To fix these mistakes sure to flip and land the same spot your came from and focus on what you are doing. You can record yourself to fix these habits and see what you are doing.

You have to really swing your legs over. I found it good to get my balance by doing handstands/headstands and then moving my legs more and more over my head but maintain the balance. If you can keep your balance like that then you'll be able to swing your legs over confidently :) xx

Try both sides and see which one is more comfortable. you can just put your hand down and just do a little 360 and just see which one just feels more natural that's all then you would know which hand to do the maccao flip.

difficult to say - everyone can do a macaco. The most important part is, as he said in the video, your fear to go back, because you don't see what's behind you. But you don't need extra strength or balance, just remember to keep your head straight and don't look down

the way i got over the "fear" of doing a backflip on the ground was doing a few on a trampoline/high jump mat etc... in front of someone that knows how to do one, then i did it on the ground really fast and wasnt bad, so my point of this is just do it infront of someone that knows how to do it on a mat of somesort than just try it on the ground if you stick the first time, the fear is gone
