Today is 2022. And this very video 15 years ago is what got me into fixies. It's a very freeing style of cycling. I can't explain it

Started riding fixed gear 6 years ago. Now I ride less and finally have the income to fullfil my love for cars. But riding fixed will always be with me. Nothing like riding downtown SF, with a cool wind and the best feeling of freedom.

Although I don't ride as often anymore. The feeling of freedom I got while riding the streets of San Francisco, along the pier, downtown, japan town, etc. are some of the best moments in my life.

Just an amazing video with picture perfect editing, camera work, and an excellent music selection that absolutely makes it. Just great stuff. Really gives one the feeling of the Fixie bike culture. I've watched this video multiple times and never tire of it. Probably one of the best bike short pieces.

This and the Jason Clary promo for State Bicycle are what got me into fixed gear. 10 years later and I still can't do any of these gnarly tricks, but it's what gave me the initial inspiration and I still ride a track bike today. Once you go fixed, you never go back.

I just put together my first fixie TODAY. I rode for a couple hours and it was SOOO fun. I'm 30 and was a heavy mountain biker, skateboarder and snowboarder for 15 years. I feel so connected and the workout was great. No Coasting...haha. The guys in this vid are SICK riders. Take it slow, learn and progress!!! You don't do these hills over night. I don't ride a helmet skating or snowboarding but I do on my bike...but I get why a lot of people don't. Stay safe! Sick riding, good vid!

it's been about a 2 years since i started this hobby, and I remember before i did this i felt that everything around me was so far away. then i realized after riding everyday, all my surrounds are so local. I can get to los angeles in about 1 hour and i live 20 miles away.. now i feel like i can go anywhere on my free will..well back then it was a bmx bike and that took forever!@

I was hooked when I first saw this 15 - 16 years ago. I did not even build up to hitting declines, it just fucken happened and luckily none of my friends or myself got hurt. I now rarely ride but when I do I make sure to avoid riding down any hills lmao

I remember this inspired me to bomb a hill on my fixed gear in little Italy SF. Foot slipped out my pedal strap and I was a runway bike thru a blind intersection . Shit myself pretty good but realized I was an adrenaline junkie. Good times.

*Please answer * me and many of my friends have stripped the cogs thread by skidding like this. and yes i did tighten it before i tried this and very well... the cog would just come right off and its a bummer.. luckily i bought a b43 and the cog has not moved at all but is there any way that i could be sure that it wont happen to any of my upcoming wheels? im scared of messing up the threads.. ive heard that you can actually weld the cog into the frame.. any advice so i could be sure? thanks!
@KooleyHigh15 жыл бұрын
this is beautiful
@maur0r1013 жыл бұрын
@ChesterBD1 thanks for the reply. and yeah i bought a stock track wheel and the cog just came right off on the first skid.. maybe its because it has a cheap lockring and a cheap hub. so the threading are not so strong to keep it together on a hard skid? and about substituting the cog when it comes to welding it.. ive thought about it and yeah i guess there could be a big issue there when it comes to switching it.. but i really like my gear ratio (48:16) so not planning on chainging...

ive just started riding a fixie BUT can someone explain to me why they put one one leg over the handle bars. i know its to help them slow down but is it just putting even more weight on the front wheel to skid rather than just leaning forward? or are they doing some weird foot tricks?

@NewKoshin14 жыл бұрын
if someone has the time, can you explain how a "fixie" works, i mean ive looked into them abit cos they look kinda cool. but do you have to always pedal? and as soon as you stop pedaling does the rear wheel stop? im guessing the rear hub is fixed, so no freespin, hence the name? sorry for dumb question.
@maur0r1013 жыл бұрын
@gardaGGH yes my mistake. i know its to the hub... and ive never heard of those. do you know by any chance the brand of these 6 bolts hubs and some pretty good strong lockrings? thanks

@ikill4fun87 wait do u think clear pads on a rim(not chromed the whole thing is painted)wont make the black lines on the rim?
@tennispimp1413 жыл бұрын
@50nollieman where did it start wobbling it possible that the screw that basically connects ur steerer tube to the rest of ur bike came loose. I would loosen the screws to your stem, make sure your stem is as close to the spacers as possible, the retighten all the screws in that area. I hope this helps

If you watch the movie Macaframa on DVD, you can see Keo do a front wheel scrape 180 on his track bike and John skateboard on his toptube. Half these guys started off BMX riding before even thinking about a fixed gear. Riding fixed gear is fun. Anyone who says otherwise needs to try it for longer than a day.

Can someone tell how gear ratio's work? What does it mean when you have a 70 inch ratio(for a example) or what a good beginner ratio is.
@moebius43214 жыл бұрын
@Motomessenger The original "I'm bound to pack it up." is by The White Stripes. This cover is by Aluminum
@felio18215 жыл бұрын
same here about every month sometimes a little bit less but ive found it quite helpful to check the tire take it off and put it back on on a diferent position so that when my right leg is in the back (my skidding position) the tire itself wont be on the same part
@McLovin041713 жыл бұрын
I started riding fixed gear because of this vid and for that I FUUCKKIN love this hahah
@JamesMerrydancer11 жыл бұрын
@madmageone they can pull on on the front one with use of foot retention. I the cases when they are skidding with a singular foot they are leaning over the front to unweight the back wheel which enables the rider to exert enough force to lock the the back wheel.

hmm do you think that the straps might be better because it would fit your foot closer it seems more so than maybe the steel clips (but i am not sure)
