It feels good to constantly be in motion, and being pulled forward, into stressful situations, and having to constantly solve those problems. Its not for everyone, but know there is a great deal of joy that comes from these rushes.

Seeing the comments in 2012 back in the day (when I first saw this not when posted) vs. now makes me happy. The comments back then were “I wonder how juiced he was to do this” and stuff like that now it’s jut people either complaining about the video quality (and honestly this was before GoPro could just follow you) and people bringing attention to the fact that lance wasn’t the only one. Honestly KZbin is growing up when it comes to videos like these. Couple more years and the quality will make it vintage.

COL S. Trautman any seasoned cyclist should be able to commute just fine on a single speed,i ride fixed and live in salt lake city, utah (a giant valley with very few flats but abundant in unreasonable grades very capable of burning out a clutch or snapping a skinny road bike chain)yet i have commuted, competed and leisurely rode here for years .if you care to refute that then you should try owning a singlespeed or fixed gear (they are fairly inexpensive next to your tour bike with integrated shifting and carbon frame and/or water bottle holder)or maybe reconsider your level of dedication and/or fitness when it comes to bikes,we all deal with hills gears or not and i personally find it hilarious seeing someone exert all they have on the wrong gears and are now unable to manage shifting higher than their 1/1 or 20t/34t gear and are barely moving

They are actually very efficient. You are forced to ride at a harder pace comapared to a geared bike, but the direct connection to the back cog and tension on the chain give you more downforce to your back tire. You can also pull up on your pedals to pull yourself up the hill instead of mashing down.

@KoenSmit91 depends how much you skid... if you skid a lot for fun it might take you about a month, but if you just commute, then you are mostly resist stopping (slowing down your pace, which slows you down) and they would of course last much longer... so probably an average if you commute of about 1 back tire per every 3-4 months, depending on if you bike everyday...

chains are actually the last thing that should fail on you on any part of your bike as long as you know how to maintain your chain regularly. meaning.. checking chain stretch/wear/integrity, consistent cleaning/lubrication, replacing as needed. Majority of chain snaps are due to the user's fault. ALWAYS CHECK if any pins are misaligned or any links are stiff after breaking your chain.. MOST IMPORTANTLY always maintain a perfect/near perfect chainline when riding brakeless fixed..
