@rvl480van57 жыл бұрын
Connie Mahaswaren: Whitney was a very good singer but she tried to put herself on the same level as not only Donna Summer but Chaka Khan and other great singers. I'm sorry but she had the potential to be a great singer but she came along at the wrong time... the eighties...which was not as kind to R&B singers as say the 70's or the 60's.During the eighties, even great R&B singers such as Stevie Wonder and Patti Labelle kind of sold out by watering down their music to some extent. Fortunately, singers like Patti Labelle, Stevie Wonder and others had already achieved greatness by the time the eighties came along. Unfortunately for Whitney, she was just getting started when the eighties came along and was never really able to really reach her potential. Imao, Whitney lent her voice to some rather subpar songs during the eighties that were not worthy of someone with a voice like hers. This, in my opinion, diminishes her stature as a great singer. This is why I say she is not worthy to duet with someone of Donna Summer's stature.
