I knew Femi played the original Tantomile and Exotica on the video version, yet never Knew she also did Bomnalurina! Brilliant perdormance indeed. Looks like Cats is a lifetime commitment, and a beautiful one I must say

(P.S. Peoples - They aren't wearing wigs, it's their own hair tied up, and no make-up; this was for the Royal Variety Show as was stated by gottagodisco, so the full costumes wouldn't have been used. I've not seen much of these shows, being Australian, but from what I *have* seen, the full costumes aren't usually worn and the songs are sometimes even altered slightly - it's to give a taste of the show. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that's how it works.)

Femi Taylor as Bombalurina is brilliant! I know people like Rosamarie Ford are just as good for the role but now hearing Femi's voice and dancing extent makes me wonder why they never expanded on the character in the film to show more of her. It wouldn't be hard to do! x

@musicaltwin101 Femi was going to be Tantomile because that was her original role but by the time webber got a hold of her the part had all ready been given to someone else so he created Exotica just for hence why they have a similar costume.

they wanted to cast her as tantomile which was was her character when the show opened in London...but by the time Webber was able to contact her some one else has all ready accepted the part so he had exotica created just for her.

I know your comment is old, but Femi was playing Bombalurina (the red/black costume). Demeter is Kim Leeson (the yellow/black costume).

this isnt 1986 Royal Variety. I don't know what year it is, but I worked on the 1986, and this isn't the set for it

Webber and Gillian Lynne created that role because they really wanted her in the show (originally as tantomile but some one had all ready be chosen) and created that character just for her. What character did they create for you? Fyi plato shouldn't be in it as he was only in the american cast as a counter part to admetus and asparagus/gus should be the same actor.

This was great--however, Demeter is usually not this perky. I realize, though, that this is a variety show performance, so it's not in the context of the show. Is there any footage of these 2 actresses performing this in the actual musical (with FULL costumes, tyvm)?

Excuse me? Femi Taylor should not have been in because her character didn't exist...well maybe either Plato or Ademetus should have been cut since the two characters are interganglable (one is US and one is London) or maybe Sir john mills should not have been in it since gus and asparagus and bustopher jones are all played by the same character!

Okay yeah, maybe Plato or Admetus should have been cut. I dunno. But why create a character just for the sake of a good actress/ singer/ dancer who has been in a CATS production before? If they wanted her in the movie then why not just cast her as a character that already existed???
