Thank you! I was looking for a concise review of why I should see this, I got that in the second segment. My most favorite of the Shakespeare plays overall, Tragedies and Comedy’s alike

Glad I could help! Definitely worth seeing if you can get your hands on a cinema ticket. I think it will be a great production to see that way!

Your seat looked vertigo inducing at the Pinter Theatre, yesterday I watched the new production of My Fair Lady at the excellent Curve Theatre in Leicester, a superb lavish show, wonderful cast, great musicians and imaginative set well worth a West End transfer. With Shakespeare I much prefer the musical versions such as West Side Story and Kiss Me Kate 😀

Haha right? It wasn’t even a seat - I managed to get a last minute standing ticket in fact for £20. Oh that sounds great, will have a look! ☺️

I saw this back in October. Although I liked it, I preferred the version with Ralph Fiennes I saw in March. I don't think turning it into basically a radio play really worked. It was worth a try but it's not something I want to see again. The porter scene was a bit silly and went on far too long. I don't think playing it in one span without an interval worked all that well either, it's an intense play and the audience needs a breather for it to make its full impact.

Oh that’s an interesting take! I haven’t seen the one with Ralph Fiennes but I really enjoyed the audio aspect of it - found it very captivating and given that it’s a live performance and you see the actors delivering it, it didn’t feel like a radio play to me. I see what you mean in terms of it being a bit long without the break. Either way, think this is one of a kind show as I haven’t experienced a production like this before. ☺️

I totally agree with you. I thought the acting was good, but hated the headphones. It was like listening to a radio play with people miming on the stage. Hated things like the witches being off stage. Ralph Feinnes and Indira Varma were much better, that production had the emotion you want from MacBeth (terrible venue mind..). I didn't care about any of them in this version.

I found this version a bit odd as it’s v dissociative, I loved some aspects the audio of the witches really enhanced it. The acting is excellent, as a person with ptsd the dissociative experience is v like ptsd, so for me not great but I did feel like it was odd seeing what looked like mimed due to the headphones.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! That’s a really interesting take, especially on the note of ptsd. I really feel like the headphones and such great audio quality have enhanced my viewing experience. It didn’t feel mimed or too removed once I got into it.

Had a ticket and they cancelled the show an hour before… 😢

Nooo! That’s so annoying! Sorry to hear that! 😞 were you able to exchange the tickets for other day? There’s always the cinema version to check out but it’s not the same.
