I went to see Matilda, Mean Girls, and Why Am I So Single recently, all great. I’m visually impaired, and I can honestly say that the access hosts at all events were superb too. We do get some large scale theatre here in Ireland but not quite as much as in UK.

I wasn’t going to see this one, but this review convinced me to give it a go. Went last night and loved it. Yes, I cried. Not always a great achievement, tv commercials can make me blubber. But this show definitely moved me. The music was amazing, it almost never stopped. That must be the hardest working cast in the West End. It was giving me come from away vibes and then they gave me a little promotional button as I was leaving, just like they did at Come From Away.
@KristinaEmilyOfficial5 күн бұрын
YES YES YES! I can’t even express how happy it makes me to read your comment. So glad you went to check out the show after seeing my review, it’s a show worth everyone’s attention. It also gave me Come From Away vibes but forgot to mention that in the video. So beautiful, thank you for sharing! ☺️

I went to see it a few weeks ago for one of the trial runs and I was blown away by how talented each member of the cast was in so many different ways. It is one of the best shows I’ve ever seen on the west end. Beautiful done, you have got to go and see it if you appreciate heart-warming, charming and uplifting theatre. I cannot recommend it enough.

I loved Benjamin Button musical. As a foreigner, who lives in London for the last 30 years, it was also easy to follow and understand. And I think for a first time, I preferred theatre adaption of the novella than the movie.

Would love to see this. Is there a realistic chance that this will be extended until the end of May? At least, there isn‘t anything else planned after that in the Ambassadors Theatre.
@KristinaEmilyOfficial12 күн бұрын
I hope you get a chance to see it! It's currently on until 15th February 2025. I don't know if it will get extended, but I do have a feeling that this won't be the last run of this musical. It's too good not to be extended or put in the West End in some capacity again.
@reubencollings13 күн бұрын
Can’t disagree more. There was no clear storyline and lacked any explanation of the characters or the plot, with too many metaphors. The music was good but quite monotonous and some clear talent in the company. Nothing stuck out or connected with me and I was lost, it was quite tedious and unmemorable. Left after the first half

When I heard they were going to make a musical, my first thought was DO-NOT-TOUCH-THAT-MOVIE!!! But… I was there last week at the opening night in the Dominion Theatre and I must say I was very pleasantly surprised. I fully agree the cast is excellent, staging and set design top, outfits top. Regarding music: some numbers (e.g. I only love you for your body) are 100% Elton-style, others may be more difficult to be recognized as his compositions. The refrain of the number „Runway“ sung by Emily reminds me of „Somewhere“ from West Side Story - I really hope it‘s not going to turn out to be a plagiarism… Regarding singing: generally very good, except the high note at the end of The Devil wears Prada (the ball scene) sung by someone from the cast and which was totally off-pitch/flat and really hurt my ears. They should work a bit more on that one with their vocal coach. I was also glad that they kept a lot of the original text from the movie. Especially Miranda’s famous cerulean-monologue was kept almost in its entirety. However, I was missing the equally famous „Florals? For spring?! Groundbreaking!“ Also, they added some additional story lines like Emily‘s flirting with the nurses in the hospital where she is hospitalized following her accident (Bon Voyage). This is something which is not in the original movie but nevertheless a good idea as an 11 o‘clock number. Overall, a very positive experience.

I saw the show in May and found the Fates distracting from the entire production. The Fates are, from mythology, three goddesses who roughly look the same (beautiful) but have different functions...but the emphasis is trio. In this production, the Fates were straight out of the Sesame Street vignette that one of these things does not belong together. The production had two women, roughly the same size, with the third the size and height of the other two...together. it does not matter if s/he were a very large woman, a trans woman, or a man in drag....it was distracting from the entire production. The Fates were background singers...both figuratively for the play and literally. The size discrepancy added no value to the production. Only detracted

Ah great you managed to see it on the first preview - that must have been super special! I wouldn't say it's my favourite of the year but probably in the top 10 ☺ I was really sceptical about it as movie to theatre adaptations don't always deliver but I think this one will find it's fandom more easily than some other adaptations.

He definitely is but I’m not that familiar with his work (unfortunately haven’t seen Jerusalem). He is brilliant in this role so I wouldn’t be surprised if a nomination happens. If you are his fan and you have a chance to see the play, then it’s definitely worth it.
@threewisewomentheatreco346026 күн бұрын
He looked to me like he was still in Jerusalem...his Irish accent was OK but his characterisation of Captian Boyle, a classic Irish character, was way over the top, played for laughs and he looked like a cross between Hitler and Charlie Chaplin. He was at times like a pantomime Dame. I blame the director for not being strong enough to stand up to his ego and the rest of the cast did not do the play justice, with the actor playing Joxer not evening attempting to do a Dublin accent. J Smith had the standard US stage 'bog Irish' accent. I flew to London to see it and entertaining as it was, it's a slap in the face to the Irish and one of our beloved plays. MOST OF ALL THE ENDING OF THE PLAY IS COMPLETELY WRONG. IT'S NOT HOW IT'S WRITTEN AND SHOULD NOT BE PLAYED.
@threewisewomentheatreco346026 күн бұрын
@@KristinaEmilyOfficial NO IT'S NOT. You don't know the play or how a Dublin accent of the time should sound, it was an imbarrassment to the People of Dublin, the Irish and our beloved playwright Sean O'Casey. It had a completely made up ending!! I was astounded at the audacity of anyone who would change the ending of a play. Shame on them...belive me if it played in Ireland they would have been bet out of it and kicked back to where they came from
