Hadestown was definitely the discovery of 2024 for me. I've already seen it 7 times and I'm seeing the Broadway cast in February. It really gets under your skin. It tends to attract quite a young audience too, rather than just the older age-groups who are more likely to go to the theatre, which can only be a good thing.

@@KristinaEmilyOfficial Thanks, 😊 Def plan some theatre trips outside of London, in parts of Kent, Essex, Surrey, Hertfordshire, etc Def some of your 52 shows of theatre could be outside of London. theatre shows I have booked so far this year are obviously Starlight Express in March-The Lightning Thief as you know at The Other Palace for April as well as Bat Out of Hell on UK Tour at Orchard Theatre Dartford in August! That is it for now 😎 I'm sure it will, but obviously know not to compare it to the original esp the German production! 🚂🛼🌠🤘🏻 I'm from Kent right between Dartford/Bexley!

Hey Kristina, Can't wait to see this revival, just booked tickets to see it in March-used the theatre vouchers me and my gf had for ages! Starlight Express is the musical I have seen the most times. I have seen it 24 times in total- first as a little kid when I was 5 in Summer of 1986 and begged my mum/dad to take when seeing the adverts for it on TV, posters in the high street, buses/train stations, reading reviews for it on Teletext/Magazines etc Saw it 11 times in London, once on Broadway/once in Vegas, 6 times in Germany where it still play as you prob know. 4 times on UK Tour, and once in Norway! The Bill Kenwright Tours were ok I thought with half set size + 3D glasses, but this is how it should be done esp UK Tour when they did it in Arenas/Stadiums like: Milton Keynes Bowl which I saw in 2004! Another one of my fav hit musicals from the 80's that had really good story. special effects, music etc was: Dave Clark's "Time" which ran for 2 + half years-sure you know of it? I saw it once with Cliff Richard in 1986, once with David Cassidy in 1987, and once with David Ian in 1988. Still have the original programs/merch/tickets. My dad still has the cast album on holographic Cassette 😎 I also love seeing Plays, Magic Shows, Comedians, etc in London/outside of London and when abroad-one of my favs-Lord of the Dance: Dangerous Games which saw live in 2014 + live recording of it was only on TV a couple of days ago on Sky Arts did you see it??? I have also followed your fb page as well-Do you live in London-I'm in Kent 🙂 Also from what I have seen/read of this revival. + knew beforehand when it opened was that there wouldn't be that iconic rotating bridge from the original as the building wasn't high enough or something like at the Apollo Victoria. + also they have taken out a few of the songs and added in new ones. Why didn't they just keep it as it was?? First show I ever went to was Robin Hood + his Merry Men when I was 18 months old but remember nothing of it- first one I do recall seeing advertised/ saw live at theatre when I was 3 was Snoopy--the Musical at Duchess Theatre and then my dad took me for something to eat at Wimpy afterwards ☺

I'm sure I've spent more and seen less, which is depressing. I used to be all about the bargains. If they didn't discount, I would just keep waiting until they did. But then prices started going up and I guess I would give in too early. On the upside, I rarely buy programs. I glance at them in the theatre, maybe look up the name of the pretty third lead, then feel awkward trying to carry them on the train home, where they end up in a pile on my dresser, never to be seen again. I wish they were more consistently sized (read: all small).🎭
@Armadillo3123 күн бұрын
I'm the opposite. Spent too much, so been trying to go only when there's offers. Actually, the last 10 shows I've watched have all been £16 or less. I do watch a fair amount of seat filler shows which helps keep the price down.
@mikekaraoke3 күн бұрын
@@Armadillo312 Also it is good to also ask for theatre vouchers for birthdays/Xmas and then that can be put towards it esp when they do their discount deals as well! I feel I have to watch Benjamin Button now after all the rave reviews. Someone mentioned it feel more like a concert though, which has put me off a bit. While I haven't seen the other 2 on this list, I thought Oliver was quite good. I do feel that once the whole novelty of roller skates and unique set design wears off, Starlight has little to offer.
@KristinaEmilyOfficial5 күн бұрын
Benjamin is definitely worth seeing! It didn’t feel like a concert to me - the cast members are also instrumentalists so maybe that’s what’s different compared to other musicals but overall it’s a beautifully told story performed by extremely talented artists. ☺️ and Starlight is truly one of a kind…probably not the soundtrack I’d regularly return to but a fun show to watch!

Saw this last night. I'd heard it got bad reviews, but even with my low expectations, I was utterly disappointed. Sigourney sounds like she's reading from a book and it's very hard to make out what she's saying, unless you are extremely well versed in Shakespearean speech. The only positives was Stephano and Trinculo who at times were pretty funny. 1* from me.

I thought about going to this but decided not to in the end. It felt like celebrity casting and not much more than that. I don't think she's had much stage experience over the last few years, and certainly not much experience with Shakespeare. It's a tough ask to take on something like that in your mid-seventies if you don't much background in it, so it's not really a surprise that you found it a disappointment. I spent nearly four hours in the queue yesterday to buy tickets for the Broadway cast of Hadestown, who are coming to London early next year for a month of shows. Tickets went on sale at midday yesterday and they'd sold out by the evening.

I was curious to see how they’d tackle it. I enjoyed previous Jamie Lloyd productions so this one was also enjoyable but it’s just not spectacular as it could’ve been. Still worth seeing I think, for other aspects of the show. Same! I managed to get through but only 180£ tickets were left and that was a bit too much to pay for me. I will try returns and resells for sure! Can’t believe the general sale is cancelled today! 🥹
