I am deeply shocked that a most extreme musical genius and unmatched vocal talent can also be a pedophile and possible child molester! I not suprised you can not seperate the artist and the art, I don't think I can either.

MJ was found and proven innocent. You wanted a court room musicals where it ends with MJ being found and proven innocent? haha that would piss u haters even more. Dont worry the MJ biopic coming out april next year will potray MJ as a beautiful innocent soul and those accusers as the criminals they are. So i look forward of more crying from you 😂

If I simply wanted fun I’d do Mamma Mia…..for music and a great story Tina…..and I was surprised/impressed with Jersey Boys (or for another jukebox musical “Just for One Day”)…..MJ never really intrigued me. The performers are no doubt brilliant but just more interested in other shows. (Off to the Young Vic this Saturday…..curious to see a show I have not much knowledge of)

I left at intermission for this one, the audience were terribly, so badly behaved, I think you get people who don't usually go to the theatre come to something like this. The dialogue was really bad between songs, I really struggled to stay interested. It does sound the second half was maybe better for some big numbers.

Oh no! Sorry to hear that. Luckily that wasn’t the case when I went to see it but have heard someone else complain about audiences being loud. The second act was defo stronger but I totally see what you are talking about.

For me there's plenty of TV doc's that covers all the controversy, so I didn't go to this musical looking for that, as I knew it was set in 1992. I think Myles Frost is sensational as MJ, and I was almost equally impressed byt Ashley Zhangazha as MJ's dad and Rob. The way he just switches between 2 characters on the spot, was very cool to watch. The whole set design is one of the best I've seen - I still can't get over the whole NY set appearing out of nowhere. The speed which the sets change is also impressive and the fact that the band was just is moved off and on stage was done really smoothly as well. All the song performances and choreography was spot on - the rehearsal room is a nice way to bring these together. I think his childhood was covered in a way that made sense, via that interview. Is it perhaps more of a concert than an actual story? Yes, but I don't watch jukebox musicals for intricate plots. Plenty of other shows do that.

The cast is pretty good and yes - some elements of the show were spectacular. Definitely the one for fans to enjoy and hear these songs performed by some pretty incredible actors. I wasn’t suggesting they should’ve covered the controversy at length just that the story felt very controlled, keeping the viewer on the surface rather than letting them in. But good entertainment nonetheless.

Hi Kristina, I went to see MJ The Musical a few months ago and I thought the production was superb Myles Frost’s performance was truly remarkable the way he sang, danced, and captured MJ’s mannerism and his speaking voice was incredible, the nearest to actually seeing Michael Jackson in real life. The musical numbers were spectacular especially Thriller, however, I do agree that the show does gloss over the controversy surrounding his life with only flash backs to his childhood. But that aside it is a wonderful celebration of his music and that’s what the vast majority of the audience are going to see the show. I do think that Tina is the best of the jukebox musicals as that production covers more of the dark side of her life as well as the successes and celebration of her music.

Myles Frost is incredible! 100% agree! The closest we can get to experiencing MJ live again! And for so many fans this will be an amazing night out full of entertainment. Couldn’t agree more in regards to Tina - that is the ultimate jukebox musical about the artist’s life that feels so real, vulnerable and powerful at the same time. One of my favourites!

Mam, what controversy is there to talk about when Michael was investigated thoroughly by the FBI for over a decade and FOUND NOTHING? I think you should do your research instead of automatically accepting what the media is telling you. Especially when the kids who stayed at Neverland admitted the parents LIED to get money. Research is CRITICAL mam!

My whole point is that completely omitting something which has impacted more than a decade of his life and is one of the biggest associations with him (regardless of the truthfulness of the allegations) from the musical that is about his life doesn’t sit well with me as it offers a very selective piece of narrative.

I wasn't going to see it and honestly, even after your review, I still don't think I want to see it. I've heard great things about Frost's amazing performance, but excellent mimicry doesn't necessarily make it interesting. I alway loved Fawlty Towers , couldn't wait to see the play. The actor playing Fawlty / John Cleese is uncannily perfect, and the script was based on classic episodes, but it still bored the pants off of me. And finally the image of Jackson is just so tarnished now, it would interfere with my enjoyment of the show.

I totally share your sentiment. I felt borderline guilty for going to see the show and just the absence of anything that would remotely acknowledge the elephant in the room felt like an even bigger let down. It’s interesting to see tho that the show is going on tour and getting bigger so it clearly suggests that there are people who enjoy it for what it is.

Good advice (strongly recommend Seatplan its my to go site for picking seats). Today Tiks is great however I recommend refreshing the site and don't always go for the first set of tixs that pop up (I done this a few times and they normal offer you end of row/restricted view seats first but if you keep trying better seats will become available). TKTS booth is great as the staff have a good knowledge of the theatres so will offer you the best seats. You mentioned going to the box offices early but I also recommend going about half hr before the show starts as the theatre will then start selling the last remaining seats off (Hello Dolly were selling the premium seats that hadn't sold for £25, which then went down to £20 15mins before the show). Also worth mentioning that some shows do offers where the sell off seats for the following week performances (Disney do magic Mondays, Moulin Rogue do bohemian seats on a Friday, national theatre do £10 rush on Fridays, then other shows do lotteries you can enter). Agree it's best shopping around (some shows offer cheaper prices at the start of the week compared to the end, and different sites have different offers on). Naturally if you pick a quieter times to visit you can get good deals, I normally do a long stay in London (4-5days) during January and grab good deals during the new year sale (which normally kicks off in the middle of Nov so you can plan ahead).

Couple of further comments: using TKTS you are able to select your seat (and hence check if good view or not) whereas TodayTix Rush tickets can be a bit of a lottery. Online agencies appear to block book seats so can give impression a show or particular seats are sold out whereas other agencies may still have seats. Also there are well known theatre sale time slots in Dec for Jan/Feb and in June for August. Finally, if you have a disability, theatre groups and individual theatres will offer discounted tickets (Access Card is very convenient)

Thank you for these super useful tips, Richard! That's such a good point about Rush vs TKTS...although I feel that the value of the seat tends to be better on Rush tickets as I've got some great seats for cheap money. But Rush tickets are waaay harder to secure so as with everything...some pros and some cons. :)

Thank you for this video! I agree that going on my own is a way to save money. Also, just wanted to say - don’t feel you need to restrict yourself to matinee performances because of what you told in the former video! Perhaps taking an Uber from the tube station to home or just walking faster without holding the phone could be enough! 🙂 I think Mond-Wed night performances are still usually cheaper than Sat or Sun matinee.

Literally the message of the show is something that can still be looked at through today's lens. It's literally about how society decides when people are too old to do stuff and how we are quick to turn our backs or disregard older people's feelings.

Firstly, Did you really think there could be anything remotely tranquil, relaxing, soothing &/or subtle in anything that was focused on a story about racing trains???!!!! I mean if it was called "Starlight Rubber Ducky Float Down," I could understand Secondly, the costumes are just awful compared to other productions! They do virtually nothing to convey the prototypical subject matter! They look like rollerdisco-ing Jetsons! It's the largest point of contention with the fan base. I don't blame them either. I've seen education based amateur productions of the show that had way better costumes!

Having seen the original production twice (Broadway with Betty Buckley and Touring with Linda Balgord), it is one of the most iconic, elaborate staged musicals of all time (it's up there with Phantom and Les Miz) ...the stripped-down staging does comes across as a concert-version of the musical and not a true Broadway/West End production, which might not go well with Broadway audiences...also just because it was a 'hit' in London it doesn't mean it will be in NYC...West End success doesn't always translate to Broadway (just look at the recent CABARET transfer) ...the opposite also can be said (hit Bway shows failing on the West End)...another point to discuss is if Nicole Scherzinger is a big enough star/name to pull this off on Broadway...it is playing to a bigger house than it did in London, so therefore more tickets/seats will need to be sold...I don't think this show could sustain a long run on Broadway...are there many Scherzinger fans, yes there are...but enough to justify Broadway attendance??...we'll see in time...

Solution: get a taxi. Also, you said buses are less safe that the train. Why? At least you can talk to the driver on a bus.
@KristinaEmilyOfficial
@KristinaEmilyOfficial 24 күн бұрын
Agree but taxi isn't really the most cost-effective way to travel around London, especially if you are out late more than once a week. The buses are a bit less frequent than the tube (especially the later it gets) and also you need to wait at the bus stop outside until the bus arrives, the journey is longer and there are also so many stops so more opportunity for trouble. That's just my personal perception. Buses are good for shorter door-to-door commute if you are near the station and confident that the area is safe. Whereas with the tube, you need to pass the barriers (pay) to get to the platform, often there's staff at the entrance (or somewhere), it's fully covered by CCTV and I feel more people use the tube so less likely you will be on your own.
