Macbook Air 2017 in 2024 is it Still Worth It?

I use this machine as a Professional Consultant. With a 1TB Transcend MTE250S NVMe SSD installed it runs like a rocket, not a beginner machine at all. I can even run a streamlined Windows 10 VM in VirtualBox on it no problems, and sometimes it is even more responsive than newer machines my colleagues have. The flash storage change and some custom sysctl settings for performance are the key to keep this machine current and relevant.

I got mine for (975 aed) or (265 dollars).I got a core i7 with 512gbso I am equipped. Do buy it if you get it at a good rate.

i got one for 120$ and it has a i7 its a really really good little laptop and im very happy with it. patched the latest version on it with opencore and its really good i love this thing

@@claudiousopokumensah3841 opencore legacy patcher.... it s a very simple process you just need a 16gb or larger usb flash drive and thats it opencore will do the rest for you including downloading and putting a patched version of macos on the usb stick

so if you want the latest update which is sequoia you could use open core legacy patcher but its a bit risky. If you want to know more about it checkout mrmachintosh youtube channel he has some great videos about this topic

you can definitely work with js and react. App support is degrading but I think it will last for a few more years

Severe multitasking & high level processing/rendering you might encounter a few issues such as speed but in the general sense it’s actually perfectly fine in day to day activities, I even used to run logic on it just fine etc among other editing softwares etc, if your looking for a quick laptop that will give you a decent performance at a very cheap price I.e around £200 - £300 then it’s a decent option, just don’t overwork it with multitasking while your doing more taxing activities such as editing etc, try to do those activities with minimal activities outside of that Edit: Aka try to do those things by themselves 👍🏾

It is never about OS bro Machine will last as per usage You are not literate enough in IT if you compare apple hardware to windows which is a software. Hardware vs software? Lol My ₹28000 2014 bought Windows laptop is upgraded with 8GB RAM (it had 4) New battery (but new also doesn’t work well anyway) And an SSD, HDD of 1TB inserted to CDROM slot, works well. I have a newer mac air 2017 Bought in 2019 I guess. Only plus is I never had to format it or install anything else It works well. HP machine was way cheaper Mac costed me ₹55K Given price difference and also the time it was bought in HP machine is what I’d rate higher here. But due to a newer system I prefer using macbook. My new laptop in future will surely be windows due to flexibility, market needs, my own job requirements and everything you can think of. MacBook will keep on working But I know how to keep Windows OS working.
