MacBook Air M2 vs Surface Pro 9 SQ3

Two Arm chip-based devices the Surface Pro from 2023 and the Macbook Air M2 from July of 2022
Both devices are bang up to date with the latest version of Mac OS (Sonama 14.5) and Windows 11 (24H2) for the Surface.
I was surprised by this result given the poor reception of the Arm based Surface Pro 9 last year - I wonder if they have been able to accelerate things over the last year as a result of the optimisation done to Windows for the Snapdragon Pro X chips?)

Well in my opinion it's all about optimization and does it meet end users expectation. Well done .

Many thanks for your tests of music making using the SQ3. They have given me the confidence to try Windows on Arm. I want to start with a S/H SQ3 to see how I get on before investing in a new SP11.

I was surprised how good the SQ3 chip is for FL Studio - its very near to being as good as the latest Snapdragon X Elite model and I can see a lot of people snapping these up on the secondhand market!

It will be very interesting to see how developers respond to the new Elite models with new ARM versions of apps and drivers that can hopefully also be used on SQ1, SQ2 and SQ3 machines.Exciting times ahead! Looking forward to more videos by yourself. I haven't found anyone else currently covering music making on ARM. 😊

I found this quite interesting actually and if you’re able to - would be nice to see the speed boost when the new ones with the Qualcomm Snapdragon X / X Elite are out. Thanks for this.

Its just one of a series of tests aimed at users of FL Studio so that they can gauge the performance of it on different platforms (it uses the manufacturers own metric which indicates the given percentage of processor use at any particular time)
