How is the battery performance on these snapdragon laptops? I can't find any info, and I understand the emulation will have an effect on the performance but I would like to have a ballpark. Thanks!

@@solazul8015 In general battery life is phenomenal but you are correct, it is impacted by emulated apps but I have not done any metrics related to this as I am usually plugged in.

@ would you be able to do a time lapse with how long the battery lasts looping a project? Not sure it’s as easy with how long the battery lasts cause now it’ll take a better part of your day 😆 so I get why it wouldn’t be as easy.

Hey Ian, again just want to thank you for the work you put in on all these comparisons. I'm guessing the track used is the same across all your recent benchmarks? I've got a base-spec M1 MacBook air and am surprised that there's not that much of a difference in performance (at least according to FL's measurement there) here and back in your M1 Air video from around 7 months ago. Thanks again for all your efforts!

I think the app Korg gadget would work great with the ally because of the touch screen controls. I use Reason as my daw.

Can it control other plugins like vital? And can it map the preset up & down buttons to actually change presets in 3rd party plugins? Because that would be seriously useful 😂

There is only a "defacto" method for controlling presets at the moment but more and more 3rd party manufacturers are adopting it - in which case they "automagically" get support for preset/patch selection using any FLKey keyboard. Vital is already one of the hundreds of third party plugins that is supported.

I would only change if you wanted the touchscreen functionality - otherwise I would wait for a native version of FLS. The M1 chip is still very capable.

Active EQ is better for channel eq and roll off/cuts on input, and sharpening up a track isolated if necessary, ON MIX, should be done with proper mic technique ON INPUT for durability down the line. Passive EQ is better for overall mixes, like a bus or an entire mix and mastering because the cut and boost circuits interact to create a sort of frequency dependent compression which can smooth a bandwidth section like nothing else and then there’s the kick drum low end effect, and the high end effect. Pultec made a mid band passive too, which most people don’t know how to use🤣😂❤️, works the same as the other eqp1a, just affects mids. Hope that helps.

Can you please do a test with Reaper? I'm pretty sure Reaper is the only daw currently that has native support for arm on Windows, unlike FL studio which currently doesn't have a native ARM version (as mentioned on their website) and Reaper is the most optimized daw as well, so it would be the best daw to test out new CPUs/SOCs.

I do think Reaper has great support but I am an FL Studio user and I don't want to switch DAWs and am happy to wait for the coming ARM version (which has already been announced) - albeit largely because the existing version runs so well on ARM as is!

@@ianwalker2258 Good for you, but I wasn't suggesting you to switch DAWs. Since I was interested in buying one of these Snapdragon laptops, I was looking for videos that test those laptops for music production and not just video and photo editing like most of these tech KZbinrs. Which is why I requested you to test Reaper on these laptops, which would've actually showed the performance capabilities of these chips as Reaper is the first DAW to support arm on Windows natively and pretty much no other major DAW at the current time has support for it, they all have announced it like FL, Cubase etc. so far. Hence, my comment.

Hi! I've read that the fan on the Asus Duo 16 is supposed to be so loud. does this disturb the music production very much (without headphones)? I've been using Logic for a few years and intend to switch back to FL Studio. I am interested in the Asus Duo 16 because of the ingenious additional display. One of the buttons on the keyboard specifically toggles the fan between "performance" and "standard" mode so in this respect it is better than some other laptops I have used.

I have it in 32 track mode config with 4 units connected, and it works a treat on most DAWs. When you are mixing tracks, muting and controlling the volume, and even fast scrubbing forward and back on tracks, these units work great to speed up the workflow. Getting hard to find these in the wild now, but if you spot them, nab em. Worth every penny.

Hello, Can you please turn that music off while you talking? Have you checked the video/audio before you publish? I have APD, but my friend said he actually have a hard time to understand you clearly. Beside that thank you for the video, I was considering to use my Ally for NI Traktor 4 and Ableton. I compared my Ally to my MBP M1 Pro 10/16 cores and I was surprised that on 18watt setting Ally performed really good. Have you tried running it on Linux for better gaming performance?
