It's not a very liked video because you didn't show how to remove the battery completely out of the laptop. People like to see the whole process. They are not sure if it has worked. Nothing to do with your accent.

Thanks Tarunpreet! Managed to successfully replace my 15" Early 2013 battery with this method. Ingenious idea. My steps were as follows: 1. Buy battery from ebay. 2. Take dental floss and tie each end to a keyring. 3. Use latex gloves (good idea to avoid static electric sparks on the logic board). 4. Discharge the battery completely. 5. Ease the the floss into the corners using a plastic pry tool (anything metal is incredibly dangerous should you pierce the battery). 6. Pull slightly while using a 'sawing' method. Thanks once again.

Guys! ✅ Drain battery to totally empty before proceeding with battery replacement. Do it because it lowers chances for batteries to catch fire and cripple you for the rest of your life. ✅ Do not put anything metal between batteries or contacts. Use old credit cart or string to peel batteries rather than bending them. ✅ Also watch other videos on how to successfully do it. 🔥 Do not be smartass and think you can do it better and/or faster than others do it.

He’s using string, look closer. But yeah, do not use anything metal even on what you might think is a fully drained battery.

Thanks for this. The nylon string worked great. I dipped the string in alcohol first and it cuts easier. Also a plastic card inserted from the side works well to remove the last bit of adhesive at the bottom edge. Dipping the card in alcohol (everclear) adds just solvent to make the job easier.

Thanks so much for your video. I just completed replacing my battery on an A1398 (mid-2014 15" Retina MacBook Pro) using an OWC Newertech replacement battery. My original battery still held a decent charge, but the cells were swollen. My trackpad buttons wouldn't work and even more bothersome was it wouldn't lay flat on a table anymore. Your technique saved me hours of time and worry! I have repaired many Macs & PCs before, even a few PowerBooks, and MacBooks, but this was my first time repairing a glued-in component, and I was a bit anxious about complete disassembly. I used some 50lb braided fishing line with metal keychain rings on each end so I could pull with my index fingers while bracing against the aluminum body with my thumbs. My homemade garrote worked great! and definitely saved me hours of time compared to attempting a full disassembly. And I never would have thought of this technique without seeing your video (and the comments). I only wish I had come across it earlier! I bought the replacement battery over six months ago, but couldn't find the time (or work up the nerve) for the repair. After finally coming across your video yesterday, I decided today was the day! I'm so glad I did because now my MacBook Pro is good as new again!

Thanks so much for your video...yours was the first one I saw of this kind. Just did the exchange in less than 60 minutes. Living in Canada, the battery kits with adhesive remover are not available. After your video, replacing the battery was pretty straightforward. To make things less of a struggle compared to your video, suggest: 1. Apply adhesive remover first (other videos note to tilt the computer downwards away from the components to prevent damage). 2. Used three types of string...found the best was braided fishing line (the monofilament line broke due to the adhesive remover). 3. Wear gloves so your hands are not choked by the line (although after adhesive remover, not much effort required) 4. Cleaning afterwards required adhesive remover. I found a nylon pry tool with a few drops adhesive remover worked well to scrape the residual glue off. Thanks again!

Excellent idea. I knew when I saw your video I had the answer to all your struggles. I made a garrot out of .020 stainless steel wire and two, one inch, rings of steel. The key for me was to saw back and forth with the wire. The rings were perfect. They allowed me to apply a lot of pressure without any pain whatsoever. I'm certain that you could have done the same with your thin cord. The battery removal took only a few minutes. You paved the way and I just improved on your method. Thank you.

Just wanted to say, thank you for this awesome video and technique! I used your string technique and it is absolutely the best way to go. I strongly endorse your "indigenous solution" over the standard approach using solvent. Like you I was disappointed and feeling a bit daunted by the instructional videos I found, which have you basically entirely disassembling your entire MacBook and then put it all back together just to change the batter. I left the parts in the laptop, used your string method and installed the new battery, no problems. Thanks!

You made things so much harder for yourself by choosing that nylon cord. I just tried the dental floss technique. Yes, it's not a strong as your cord, but it doesn't have to be. I just tied the ends around two old toothbrushes (great cleaning tools anyway; I always keep them around after I replace toothbrushes) slid the floss under the battery and sawed back and forth using just the force of two fingers on each hand. No need for a helper or any huffing and puffing, and no pain in the hands. After all, when you're trying to cut food, you don't just grab a knife and push down on it. It's a lot easier to cut back and forth with the knife.

Here's what I did (using an IFixit battery kit). Also, thanks for showing this! It looks tough, which I was able to get around (see below) but this is great!! Thanks also to everyone else for recommending wire/line and bolts. 1. Go to hardware store and get 2 4” bolts ($1 each) and a coil of 20 gauage galvanized wire (or 20lb fishing line) 2. Wrap one end of the wire a few times around one bolt, then tie it off with a knot. Do the same with the other bolt, leaving about 10” of wire between the two. 3. Slip the wire under one of the outer batteries (use a card or spudger to help get the wire underneath 4. Grip both bolts with one hand and rock them back and forth, pulling the wire under the battery, using your other hand to hold the case. This should take about 2 seconds (seriously). Repeat for other outer batteries. Cuts through like butter (almost). 5. Pull the plastic frames away from the left and right sides of the center batteries. 6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 for the two center batteries.

This worked! Got a battery pack from eBay and was thinking I would need to use alcohol or something for the adhesive not to mention the long process of removing the fans and motherboard from the laptop. This method worked easily I used dental floss between two mini caribeaners. I looped the floss 4 times to make it stronger then twisted it so the strands would stay together when pushing it between battery sections. I was then able to place a caribeaners on my pinky and ring finger of the same hand and pull the floss back and forth in a sawing motion with that hand while holding the laptop with the other. Worked great! Thanks!

Thanks for the tip! I ordered a set from Ifixit but i didn't use the anti-adhesive liquid that comes with. Instead I used your method but with a fishing line and the opening tools from the set. Fishing line broke several times but it worked. some extra tips from me: : get a vacuum cleaner and one antistatic brush before opening the back cover. Because you are going to see the collection of your bed time fibers and all sort of dust that sucked by the fans in many years. So you can easily remove your fiber dust. Do not touch the board by the vacuum cleaner. When you are cleaning the fan you can go over it by vacuum cleaner and the fan will start turn itself and the dust will be sucked. Before removing the old battery you will see the two screws attaching the battery set to the board. Do not forget to remove those. It is good to have two people for this operation. Then it is better to slide down the fishing line and the other one assist with the opening tools such as spudger.

I've been wanting to change my battery for several years now. It's been telling me that it needed service but I just thought it was too expensive to have it done, and the alcohol shake method just felt bad. I bought a battery and used your method. My hands are broken due to the string, but my computer battery has 1 cycle, thank you so much:D I didn't have someone to hold on to the mac so I found it a little difficult to cut it out with the string. I didn't care to remove all the remainings from the old glue. It seems like it holds up fine and it fitted ok, but make sure to place your battery correctly the first time, it sticks quickly. No I just hope it lasts. Thaks again.

I just did this so let me add these important notes: Extreme caution is advised when removing the original battery! In my case getting the battery unstuck was harrowing. I saw smoke and sparks while applying the gentlest of force. Keep a fire extinguisher handy and take your time to get it right! Note #2: When removing the old glue watch for excess solvent draining downwards and damaging the closed screen. I learned this the hard way! Be safe. USA>covid .LEO

This is brilliant! I need to replace the trackpad on my 2012 MBPr due to a liquid spill and don't feel comfortable with putting alcohol as in other videos. I also need to save the battery since it is working great so far. I will try with nylon string soaked in isopropyl alcohol just for experiment... maybe it could reduce the amount of force needed to separate the glue strip. Just one suggestion - put a big bold text message at the beginning of your video "FULLY DISCHARGE THE BATTERY, BEFORE PROCEEDING WITH THIS PROCEDURE". Also, "DO NOT USE ANY METAL TOOLS TO PRY OPEN THE BATTERY". Cheers!

Thanks for the video, this and some other videos using a similar sting/cable technique inspired me to try it myself as some companies have you dissemble the entire motherboard first. That being said my macs battery was glued much more firmly that this or others shown on youtube indicated. This method helped get a few off then for the rest it required prying slowly and carefully with a thin metal flexible putty knife like used for patching when painting. You can brush your cord or knife with isopropyl alcohol or "goo gone" solvent and it helps dissolve the glue. WARNING: if you use a metal scraper wear some gloves and be careful and take you time, if you puncture the battery or more likely the wires connecting them near the edge of the case bad things can happen. I took my time and it went fine. Also be careful with isopropyl alcohol or solvents using cotton swaps or artist brushes and clean up after, you don't want to get it on other parts of the computer. Isopropyl alcohol is not that bad as it is often used in cleaning electronics and can help cleanup other solvents..Thanks.

the only thing to be careful about that is that if you dont know what you are doing and dont know how to do it, it's a risk. there are chances you screw up your touchpad due to the extreme freeze, or residue if using not the right kind of compressed air is used. But I agree, that's a great method too.

I just did my early 2013 MBP 2 days ago with this technique. I used a couple of 1/2" x 4" long galvanized carriage bolts as garrote handles, and 24 gauge steel wire. My kid held the laptop, and I was able to quickly and easily slice through the adhesive pads to remove the original LiPO battery cells. If you don't disconnect the original battery first, well, you're foolish. The only thing I'd recommend is that you're very careful when using wire ... don't forget that t's conductive (DUH)! I lit a small section of mine up like a lightbulb filament for a second - no damage, no burns, but it was glowing yellow hot and smoking nicely, and of course freaked us out. :) After that, things were uneventful and the old battery was out.

I was cringing after your warnings about puncturing or compression causing fire, then you pulled with such force until the batteries smacked the case. Patience and moving the cutting wire multiple times with less force makes more sense. What is nice is this method without solvents, makes me feel better about not taking all the boards out first.

Thank you sir you gave me the confidence to do this myself! I used edge trimmer monofilament (weed wacker) which is nylon and it worked very well. Next time I would try picture hanging wire or maybe a guitar string. And one person suggested making handles with short wood dowels so you don't have to hurt your hands. Also a British guy is showing how you use canned air upside down to make the cold liquid come out -- makes the adhesive brittle. Search 2015 MacBook Pro Battery removal (Quick Way)

Yes, that's a pretty innovative solution too, however, you have to be very careful to not spill any liquid on the motherboard. Apple motherboards are very sensitive and it doesn't take much to break them, I'd personally stay away from any liquid near my motherboard.

I did it! If you are doing yourself you have to use alcohol. Any kind, I used aftershave alcohol and it worked fine. IT'S REALLY HARD TO DO IT WITHOUT ALCOHOL.

I'm surprised we haven't seen someone post "how to remove a battery using a blowtorch" This one makes the most sense..thanks for your video! (ps. this is how you take off car emblems from your car, hairdrier and dental floss) Thanks!

Buddy you are brilliant. I threw some safety goggles and gloves on and had my glued batteries out of my 2012 Retina in about 10 minutes. The Apple store quoted me something like $400. I used a fishing leader and it was easy as pie. My battery was drained not my wallet.

Great idea! Might even go better if you saturated the string with denatured alcohol (better than isopropyl)

This is a really neat tip and certainly assisted in speeding up the process of removing battery cells. That being said, it is not advised to use a guitar string as the friction creates enough heat to burn your hands and can tear the battery cell causing ignition

Used floss like a few others and it worked great! Thanks for the great idea. You mention the possibility of fire, which is pretty real. I'd recommend updating the description with a note to keep a fire extinguisher nearby. I didn't need one, but I was glad it was sitting right there in case something went wrong. Thanks again!

Add another +1 for "Dental Tape + Work Gloves" makes this a heck of a lot easier and less effort than in the video. Which was greta btw, because it had the base idea to work with
