How to:
Single-User mode (Command + S) with red background screen and white stripes.
sudo nvram fa4ce28d-b62f-4c99-9cc3-6815686e30f9:gpu-power-prefs=%01%00%00%00
Type: reboot
Open Terminal
Type: csrutil disable (system integrity has been disabled)
Type: Reboot
Once the system reboots, it should now successfully boot into your install of OS X.
Now you will need to download the program.

The dosdude1 instructions don't require a "csrutil enable" after installing everything to use the onboard Intel GPU. Is there a reason why you re-enabled csrutil after all was said and done? Is that a necessary step if the patch program is installed per dosdude1's steps?

Not a necessary step to re-enable no, everything will run perfectly either way. However you might want to re-enable it for the security benefits

I had to enable the csrutil, Otherwise it would go back to the bad screen. Also I have had other MacBook Pro 2011 that would fail after a few months.
