Badass... Great Videos, grateful to have these Videos. Gives me so much insight into my job and what I need to work on. I enjoy how everything Louis does is done the right way. Compared to someone who really does not know what they are doing.

40:55 thank you for the mention of that DSPD article. For over 3 decades I thought it's something only I experienced.

Louis, when using solder wick to clean up/deoxidise pads and traces and final desolder before device fitment I find it useful/better to fold the wick back on itself to form a double thickness pad that protects against the iron snagging and damaging pads and also picks up more solder. I place the 5mm or so folded back section of the wick against the board and snip off this section when saturated with the dead solder. This method is counterintuitively more economical on solder wick and does a better job. I hope you learned something !.

I'm here to see the long screw in the short hole. 😁 Seriously that should be on a t-shirt for your channel. 😁

I like taking the big screw and putting in the small hole and making it fit. I'm talking about laptop screws pervert.

Plot twist: Louis uses his PPBUS to plug into Erica's JTAG connector at the end of the day.

I've been using an A1398 since 2014. It's the best Windows and best MacOS machine I've ever had... absolutely rock solid. Thanks for this video!

I'm also on an alternative circadian rhythm. I feel much better working later and sleeping between 4 and 11am instead of waking every morning at 6 and going to bed at 9.

This isn't intended as a critique. I've been impressed by your friend at HDD when he reballs a chip. Very small amounts of the material, applied with a knife. Then he removes the stencil before applying the heat. It may have something to do with how well one can controls small motor movements. My grandson has been able to outperform me at simple manual tasks since he was five.

How do you know that your donor boards do not have the same problem you are trying to repair? How do you know the components being soldered in are good?
