Great video, mate! I have a pretty strong desktop PC (7800X3D/4080S) so chose the 13" M3 Air 24GB/512GB. Best Buy had it on sale for $1299, last week. I can do my job on it and the form factor is perfect for a road warrior machine. I like my desktop PC big/powerful and my laptop thin/light. I also use a pair of small speakers, Edifier M60, for the Air's audio. You've got a new subscriber!

I just got the M4 pro base model, my wife has the air M3. I love my pro but I think it’s almost overkill, I am contemplating changing it out for the M3 air or waiting on the M4 air. The air is just so light and easy to use. I am a small KZbinr mostly I shoot in 4k - roughly 10 min videos and really the difference in rendering and workflow is not that high. There is one point that you did not mention and that is the pro is really future proofed with the thunderbolt 5 and extra horse power. Hard to chose really lol

I found that using a stand with fans under the laptop decreases thermal throttling. My Macbook Air M3 scored 20 points higher on Cinebench 24 than with natural cooling.

Im leaning towards the macbook pro m4 pro. It was a tough decision since I was stuck going back and forth. I just want to do one upgrade, and that's it. So I am choosing this one.

M3 air for me. Hauling it for 29 hours across the globe for work from the US to Asia and a bigger screen for sub 1400 on a deal is hard to beat. Unless you're using very dense software, you really don't need the horsepower you think you do. Was an easy choice for me and my back thanked me on the return trip 🤣

So I got an M4 mac mini and then returned it and got the base M4 MacBook Pro. So I learned a lot about how the M4 behaves. Don't wait for the M4 Air. Get the base model Pro. That fan is definitely needed. And you get lots of goodies. Much better display, better speakers, better ports. I feel like the upcoming Air won't perform as good as the pro no matter what. Or wait for the M4 so the M3 air gets discounted so it's cheaper to get.

Every user is different. You might be doing some intense workflow. While other's might just work with software like excel, power point etc. Having a laptop with a fan might be overkill for some users.

is it worth waiting for the M4 air? the m3 air is currently on discount, not sure if the difference between the M3 and M4 chips would worth the extra money and wait.

If there is a question the question is MBP M4 vs. MBA M4, the M3 generation will be replaced by the M4 Chip in a few weeks than you can make a fair comparison! The differences remain in display, ports, fanless, weight, thermal throtteling in heavy loads, price. The MBA M3 vs. MBP M4 comparison is an apple to pears comparison. MBA M3 currently ONLY with a HEFTY pricecut against MRSP around 30 or more percent and if you don't have a usecase with long and heavy workloads. For my usecase the MBA M1 16GB RAM is still perfect.

Honnestly my macbook is on a stand for 99% of the time so design and portability, I don’t really care… Oh and there is more things about the MacBook Pro, you said battery life are good on both but the pro has 6h more !! This is very useful by using eavy apps on the go and of course extra ports !

It's a no brainer. If you can afford the pro then why buy something less capable even if you don't need the extra features. If you cannot afford it then you know what to do 😂
