this is great job trying not to loose money for new connection. this is a good example to those who don't have the parts like me. i love the job. thanks sorin. i know if he got the part surely he will put in a new one but this is a good example to carry on work without spare parts.

Hallo Sorin, the reason, this wire is shielded is simply to make things more complicated. Apple didn´t like if other people fix their stuff.

Nice done Soren! Today I just brought back my first water damaged device "MacBook Pro 2017". There was no issue with the screen connector but 6 or 7 rusted points on the both sides of the motherboard. My customer first took it to an Apple store and they said it is going to cost about 800€. Of course she refused... 😀😀

Pre check: 1. Laptop comes on with no back-light. 2. Other technician checked and determined water damage. Inspection: 1. Burnt lcd connection Procedure: 1. Clean burnt area 2. Check if there's short to ground; NO shortage 3. Power on and check backlight voltag: no voltage, should be ~30v 4. Before trying to fix anything, give the voltage to the capacitor to see if there's short Adjust power to 30v, 0.17A With the lcd connector, Voltage dropped to 2.5~2.2v, which indicates there is a short; when not connected, no current drop, no voltage drop. Which indicates the short is on the lcd connection cable. 5. Pin 3, 4 are burnt on the cable. Cut out the cable wire, as well as the pins onboard. So when the cable connects to the board it won't touch anything. 6. Solder pin 3,4 together to a jumper wire, because LCD takes 30v, the jumper needs to be able to handle that voltage. 7. And solder to the big capacitor 8. 9. After that, still no backlight. 10. Follow the track back The fuse is burnt. Make a jumper to bridge the fuse. 11. Check the voltage, we have 25v. Repair done

I would have used a millimeter to determine the current across that fuse and replaced it. I just don't feel comfortable jumping fuses. They are there for a reason.

Ha ha explode, you are a funny man :-D No it's not dodgy, the connector and cable are knackered, you can only make it better :-D. Louis rossman has said that the fuse has never protected the connector, often it is not blown, so pointless.
@electronicsrepairschool6 жыл бұрын
True, fuse is not there to protect the connector, is there to get burned instead of starting a fire by high flow current

Multumesc mult. O idee m-ar ajuta.

Maybe it was the fuse only at first, as if it doesn't send correct voltage to ahead components they won't work as they should and due to low voltage shortage. Can anyone correct me please, I'm just beginner
@electronicsrepairschool6 жыл бұрын
check the video again, we checked for short, line was shorted, thats why the fuse got burned.

You have to follow some rules on a water dmg jobs, first check the power rails for short and remove the shorts, second - bring up the power's supply. We are based on east London
