I really enjoy the productivity of a Macbook (having had both Linux and Windows as my daily drivers before that), but the cost and fear of messing it up (and being charged outrageous amounts of money for repairs) is a real concern. But last year I couldn't find anything that was able to compete on a weight + battery life + performance basis (originally I wanted a Linux laptop).

yeah it seems like there aren't good alternatives except maybe older Thinkpads, but they're still not as powerful and if you do anything that requires good CPU you're out of luck.

Never thought of that, but yeah they're all glued together.. impossible to repair or upgrade

@@MartinBaun fortunately, not yet :) It works well, the only thing, recently, the speakers have broken so I needed to replace them. Anyway, I like my mac for its battery capacity as I can use it much longer when the electricity is off which can be the case nowadays in Ukraine

@@kristinakristina6426 yeah the battery power is unbeatable. I miss those days. Hope the electricity situation gets better as well

Macbook hardware is great, but yes, the UI is terrible. I've been using LTS Ubuntu for many years for work, and it's solid.

Cool! I was thinking of doing the same, but I also looked at the newest Framework laptops and they're pretty sweet. And extremely easy to repair and Linux-friendly.

Haha sorry to hear it, but yea, thats macbooks worst qualities. btw I love to use blutooth keyboard and mouse (magic mouse) when I use mac at home, it's beautiful, as their touchbar =)

Hard to use keyboard + mouse in the coffee shops hehe. Though, I have seen one guy with 2 external screens and 2 laptops (yes 4 monitors) sitting in the cafe and working. Looked crazy
