I last recorded this piece in May 2022 - this time however, I'm performing it from my practice organ at home (instead of the Fincham & Hobday instrument at St. John the Evangelist).
The piece itself comes from Handel's oratorio Judas Maccabeus, the chorus "See, the Conquering Hero Comes". However, the oratorio's first performance did not include this chorus. Rather, it was initially used in Handel's oratorio Joshua in 1747, but Handel later went on to include it in the 1751 performance of Judas Maccabeus in 1751.
Similarly to my last recording, the final verse is arranged by the late and incredible Noel Rawsthorne, which I had a great deal of joy in practicing.
I hope you too enjoy this hymn.
