Macedonia: Skopje-Struga part 1: M4 Sk-Gostivar

We travel from Skopje to Struga, a town by the Ohrid Lake, about 12 kms from the city of Ohrid. This is the first part to Gostivar.

@erka001 Thanks for replying. I was born and grew up in Skopje and I haven't been there in a long time but it seems to be improving lately. It's good to hear that it's a place worth visiting.

Well Macedonia is not really the first place people think about when going to holiday, but that can change slowly. It still has beautiful nature and amazing towns like Ohrid, so there is stuff for tourists, but even here in Hungary which isn't that far, everyone was surprised that I've been going to Macedonia. I don't know what you mean by "poverty stricken eastern-european look", as I am an eastern european myself, but I met some of the most fun loving, friendly and hospitable people there.

@mrnicktoyou I think its great, but I have a lot of friends there, so I don't know what it's like as a tourist. It's not particularly beautiful as it was destroyed by an earthquake in the 60's, but I think it's a pretty exciting place with great people, amazing food, nightlife and very cheap too.

Happy times? I can tell you that Skopje wasn't exactly a happy place during the times of Yugoslavia. I don't think it could be worse now than it was back then. Maybe you are exaggerating.
