Thank you so much again for your videos, I have watched every single one of them as I am doing A level Chemistry OCR,Truly you are the best online for A level Chemistry. I wonder if you can make videos for solving the hard questions for unit 4 & 5 OCR A2 level. thank you so much.

Do you find that this is the hardest topic for students to understand? I think my teacher took the wrong route with these because he likes to give us extremely difficult questions on it with the mentality (he said this himself) "drop them in at the deep end so that they are masters by the time they get to the shallows" Unfortunately only one or two people learn how to swim and the rest of us are starting to drown.

Higgins292 In my experience students really don't like this topic and feel that they'll never get to grips with it. Practice is key and remembering that most of the marks are for the easy stuff like explaining chemical shift, peak area and splitting patterns. You're not alone. I've done some walkthroughs on past questions. You may want to use those to help? Tell your classmates too

Thankyou, your videos are really helpful and have boosted my grade a lot in chemistry already. I've shared your chanel with a lot of my friends as well and they find it helpful as well. Thanks for the good work you do

Sir I don't understand how you found the environments? Do you look at whats bonded to each individual carbon atom?

I understand that the orange group and the green group for molecule two (at around 7.47) are different proton environments, but I was just wondering how they would be shown on a proton NMR Spectra? Since wouldn't they both be the R-CH peaks? Would they just be shown as two separate peaks but both in the R-CH range? Thank you :)
@MaChemGuy9 жыл бұрын
That's right, and if you're interested the orange H's would have a higher shift value as they are closer to the O than the green ones :)

If you think about no.2 the green and orange protons should be of the same environment because they both classify as (R-CH) environment which is between 0.7-2 ppm

for butan-3-ol how would you write out the chemical shifts in the exam?
@MaChemGuy4 жыл бұрын
No such thing as butan-3-ol I'm afraid. That would be butan-2-ol
