Guys, my wife's cousin was the costume designer for Robert Rodriguez, so we were invited to attend the red carpet premier and after-party for this movie and it's sequel, in Austin. Got to meet most of the cast, and hang out at the party at his Austin based studio. It was a blast!

I remember I used to have a t-shirt from this movie with Lindsey Lohan dressed as a nun. Such a cool movie. I was always a fan of the fake trailer before Planet Terror. When She' was rubbing Machete with an egg. It's called a "limpia" or cleansing. It's an old Mexican remedy where you rub someone who is feeling unwell with an egg and the egg is supposed to absorb the sickness or whatever is ailing them. You would also usually pray while doing this. After you finish the limpia. You're supposed to crack the egg, put it in a cup, and place the cup under their bed or where they sleep. I myself have never done this but I've had it done to me and seen it done before. You can also do this if someone has "Susto" which means they've gone through some kind of traumatic event. Sometimes even supernatural trauma.

Cue all the ways people try to pronounce MACHETE !! 🤣 I love this and the whole Grindhouse feel of it , Robert Rodriguez is an awesome director and it's about time Danny Trejo gets to be a leading hero as he has such an intense presence about him. While it wasn't a part of Grindhouse there was a fake trailer called Hobo With a Shotgun. It eventually got turned into an actual movie starring Rutger Hauer who you guys saw in Blade Runner

Actually, it was part of Grindhouse....if you were in Canada. They did a few regional trailers for some contest, and HWaS was the winner in Canada, so it got shown along with the other trailers in Canadian theatres.

The egg scene is an old mexican superstition, you rub it over the face and body, its supposed to soak up any pain or negative energy, you crack it, put it under the bed, and if it looked cooked in the morning. Your bascially all good.

If I were to recommend a Steven Segal film to check out in the future...I'd have to go with Out For Justice 1991. That being said I'm glad you watched this flick especially after having watched your Grindhouse reactions.

Excellent grindhouse film. Machete Kills is even more over the top, and way out there, but just as enjoyable to watch. You need to watch El Mariachi his first film, every scene is a first take. He couldn't afford waste film, A very good movie

Check out Hobo With a Shotgun. Tarantino/Rodriguez held a contest for a fake trailer spot in Grindhouse and it ended up winning and playing during some Canadian showings, then was turned into a feature film. Consider it the ‘lost’ Grindhouse trailer that was turned into a movie.

They had a third one in development where Machete kills in space but hasn’t done much in a while. 15:25 all the above. 35:33 never heard the phrase “shoot from the hip”? 50:47 it’s so funny under Seagal’s coat you can see the gear the put under him for the stabbing scene. 52:23 difference between a chopper and a hog is a chopper is a customized bike and a hog is a slang term usually used for Harley Davidson bikes. Those handlebars are called apehangers cause you need arms as long as an ape to ride them (don’t know if that’s the reason it just makes sense)

steven seagal actually letting himself get killed even with the fact has to basically kill himself as even a machete through the stomach wasn't enough to even make him wince until he twisted the blade to finish it himself.
