Unfortunately, the former already has many great players: Drake, Travis, Post Malone, Swae Lee, etc. The latter also has more skilled adversaries in the market: Kendrick, Cole, Denzel, Lupe, etc. That usually leaves him in a spot that's still niche but that contains other similar artists like Macklemore, Mac Miller, Lil Peep, etc. He's neither bad, nor amazing. He just is... there!
