Bro most concerts, like Ariana grande, the weekend, dua lipa, (basically anyone big these days) has backing tracks to help them out because the harmonies on the studio version are usually sung by the artist as well. Translating that live is hard to do for one person so they use backing tracks to take care of the harmonies. It’s also super fucking hard to sing to your best ability for 2 hrs straight without a break. Doing that is like power lifting without giving your muclses time to regain their strength (you’d kill yourself like that) so they use backing tracks to help their voice out and not strain their muscles.

Sure you can have harmonies as backing tracks but, I just saw a jxdn one where he barely sang anything and it was all backing tracks.. what you re saying is these people are studio artists not actual performers. if you sing with the backing track harmonies its fine. if you rely on the entire track being played in the background to perform the song then its a failure in musicianship. yes, I sing and play in bands and i know its taxing but its also more genuine to perform the song.

I've seen that with many artists but I think that on the contrary it doesn't really apply to MGK. He definitely plays sloppy, and sometimes you can hear sounds that clearly wouldn't make it onto backing tracks, like that weird pickslide in Love Race on the Ellen show, and his cover of What's My Age Again in which he keeps playing the wrong chords. But at least he clearly does play live, in fact I think his vocals are faker than his guitar playing.
