We caught up with hip-hop artist Machine Gun Kelly, aka MGK, backstage at the 2013 Woodie Awards, which he co-hosted alongside indie duo Tegan and Sara.
MGK was the big winner of the night, taking home the Woodie of the Year award, and was in pretty high spirits throughout the evening. He chatted with us all about his partying ways, talked about his hatred for phones, and delivered a message to the youth of today!

I feel like a huge douche.. the first concert of his I went to early this month, I didn't take pics or videos I just jammed out and he looked down. At me pointed and smiled(we look a like is what I'm guessing, everyone tells me that) and he came up to me during the show and shook my hand (I'm was on the rail in the front) and and I helped him up on the crowd and on the rafters up top... he crowd surfed all over us dude... then he shook my hand again after the show... the second show I went too, (last night) I had my phone out the whole time... I wanted to get on video him staring at me or something.. I now know to NEVER (maybe and pic here or there) keep my phone out to film a concert.. Fuck that man.. I didn't know better..

C M i’m pretty sure he felt like a douche because instead of living in the moment during the concert and vibing, he was on his phone the entire time to film the concert instead and he wasn’t able to interact with MGK as much as he did the first time and that’s why he felt guilty for having his phone out in the second concert

I'd love to meet MGK in person and just speak with him. He is a very humble artist and is one of the realest current rappers out there. I feel like a lot of people can relate to his music and that I could personally relate to him. Honestly I didnt give him a chance at first because I thought he was just another mainstream watered down rapper, but Im glad I started digging around and listening to not so popular songs. MGK is definitely one of my favorite rappers.
