@@xokx7772 I'm writing this in response to Machine Head and their lyricist, a guy called Robb - you might have heard that name around here somewhere. If you would care to take the time to read the lyrics of this song, you might come to the conclusion that the topic of this song is exactly that: dealing with crippling, lifethreatening depression. So I am repsonding to these lyrics on the platform and by the means of communication that are given to me: the "comment section". Essentially, this is a conversation between me and the lyrics of this song, and you are disturbing a topic that you obviously do not understand nor are invited to. Brodda.

I've seen this interview with Robb one day, where he talks about his therapy and that he recommends it to everyone who struggles with depression. It made me pick up my phone and I searched for a therapist until I saw this woman's face which I liked. And I still see her every week. I haven't been using anymore since I saw that interview here on yt. I don't count days anymore because I have bad experience with it. But that doesn't matter. This interview.. Most of the fans like myself must have seen it too, right? I've always loved machine head most of all because of the lyrics. It took me from hate to love. It's all about self recognition to me. This awesome music and the lyrics have always been like looking in a mirror to me. And I'm actually really thankful for all the years that machine head gave me all kinds of energies like anger, hate, adrenaline, strength, love, and the feeling that there are others like me out there. This voice and the words sounded like my own. And it still does. I'll always have to watch myself, but you know, I got machine head as my ultimate anti depression medicine. And I just wanna say thanks! Cause this band is very important to me from since I was... Too young. 🙄😁😉❤️🤘

After how rocky things have been for machine head for the past 4 years given the direction they have been going in, I was worried for this song hoping it wouldn’t be another catharsis rehash with some glimpses of bloodstone and diamonds. I love it when bands that are at the latter end of their great careers, creating the best music they ever released in my opinion. Their latest release shows the maturity of their sound, the mellow vibes is how most of us that followed them since the 90's (or Flyns earlier material) feel in our later years [as I'm almost 50]. We can't go full octane like 30 years ago. The song writing on the latest release, wow! The stories they tell. I couldn't believe how deep, personal, and honest the lyrics were from a Machine Head album! The caliber of bands like Pink Floyd, Tool, and Bob Dylan. 10/10

If you don't like the message, then that's something you gotta resolve. Dude is insightful as hell. It's like he sets his mind to music, cuz that's EXACTLY what he's doing. I can't understand why people don't understand that musicians have political voices. I mean, there's Trumpers out there jamming to RATM, not knowing that the band is anti-fascist. With all of the reminders, it felt like this song was going to be important, and it is. The proof is in some of the comments, including mine. Well done, Robb and Machine Head. You gifted us with a song that elicits reminders of our spiritual transformations, much like "Now We Die" did, but it also encourages us to keep fighting for it if we haven't, because we want to heal.❤️🤘 I mention the latter song, cuz this song's message and video imagery: "Ashes to ashes The ocean crashes Louder and louder it cries Over and over The sands wash over Facing, embracing the tides And with this now we die"

Machine Head have been my fav band for 20 odd years. I like this song, it's solid, but I really wish the solo went for double the time. It had such huge potential to be something fucking epic, but it was still a tasty little slice and I liked what I got.

I grew up by listening the tracks of yours. I am happy i discovered you when i was 13 or 14. You have been advocating me during my happiest and my darkest days for 12 years now. A fucking awesome band, as one of my favourites, with inspirational lyrics very beautiful composition of music. When they came to Greece, i was foolish not to go their concert. I hope sometime in the future, they will come again. By the way the concert in Athens, it was SPECTACULAR. Ty for your contribution MH, from greece with love.

I'm missing Rob singing one note higher with a little sceam at the "my hands are empty" part in the end maybe... That would make that part not so monotone and better I think.

Just read the lyrics. This is the inner dialogue of a narcissist, possibly one with Borderline Personality Disorder. They're assholes on the outside, but scared, abandoned, demolished children on the inside. The soul of that child is hiding secrets of horror, the shame given them by a narcissistic parent. The emotions are too frightening to feel, so narcissists lie and drink and drug and sex and gamble, ANYTHING to numb the pain. They act like they love themselves, but they loathe themselves, as they have no empathy for their wounded inner child. With no empathy, they act like assholes, but that's their way of protecting their secrets. It's really, really sad how very, very sad they are, wanting acceptance but finding only shame. This song is actually one of the saddest I've heard. The video is dark. Robb is dressed as the devil. He's brutally, vulnerably honest in how he portrays himself. The music is beautifully painful. Haunting. The song, an autobiography. A catharsis. I hope you find peace, Robb.❤️

What a beautiful summary. How many can say they are not broken children on the inside. We build an outward appearance of strength usually with physical strength and projection to hide our true selves. When our true selves show we either break or evolve. This song was practically me 10 years ago but now bulldozer is a representation of how I feel as well as imperium. I am proud of myself for the growth but I had to break my shell and find how to truly be free and walk with my head high but not as a mask.

@@disequalone What a beautiful reply. What strength it took for you to triumph over pain. I FEEL how proud you are of yourself, and I am proud of you for taking the demons by their horns and kicking ass. YOU are metal as fuck. ❤️🤘
@user-zu9kk5et8b4 жыл бұрын
@@disequalone Btw? I'm the lone empath in a family full of narcissists, so I can relate to the pain that they feel because they gave me theirs. Eventually, I healed from it all by using my own empathy on myself. I have empathy for their inner child, but clearly, also for their adult form, because they're still in so much excruciating pain. This song is heartbreaking, and it haunts me, as all of my memories used to. I use them now to gain insight to understand. I wish everyone would do this, as I'm positive that Robb wishes. Empathy and love heals all wounds, and scars are actually the goal. Your reply made me cry. Thank you for that. I understand and empathize even more. The only difference between me and a narcissist is self-love.❤️

Without looking@ the lyrics from a musical theme I feel there is over use of the ohh ah that's the way I hear it lyrics, important yes but take what Killer be Killed the songs that are out off the new album,sends chills up my back,just not feeling it with this song.
@user-zu9kk5et8b4 жыл бұрын
@@tsierfeld That's cool, dude. To each his own. This song grabs me cuz it validates a shit ton of stuff I've figured out the last few years. It's not just the lyrics, it's the whole mood. It's the melancholy moan of that chorus. It's the explosion of rage in between. It's the black and white. The devil stuff. The ocean at the end, referencing "Now We Die", a song about rebirth. There is so much symbolism in this song and video I keep finding new stuff that reaffirms my perceptiveness and insight. That's some powerful shit...for me. I gotta feeling that "Catharsis" was premature. What we see comin' is gonna be the catharsis. I'm stoked.🤘
