You very deftly bend the photo etch parts and accurately place them on the model with the CA glue. Whenever I clumsily attempt this, the glue does not so easily adhere, and often the part migrates from where I wish to place it or just falls off, and I end up making a mess of it. Same with gluing the darn tow cables. They just spring up, after trying to hold them until the glue sets. You make it look so easy! Thank you for the video, I really enjoyed watching you assemble and build this kit. It is very helpful watching your techniques.

Thank you. Applying CA just where you want it is always tricky. That little applicator I'm using has really helped me. You can see if you watch my Marder III video the difference and ease it has made things from then to now. Those steel tow cables are always a pain for me as well. You have to try making part of any bend before gluing to take a bit of the spring out of the wire and again that applicator made it easy to glue all along the points of contact. Of course a flexible CA is a must as well as it is less brittle than standard CA. Hope this advice may help a little. 👍

@@afv-studio where did you get the CA glue applicator and stand? I just started using the Flexy 5k Ca glue, the black rubberized.
@afv-studio4 ай бұрын
@@Weld24_CosmicKat Its made by DSPIAE super glue applicator and you can find on AliExpress for £10. You can find them in UK but it will cost over £20. The Black Flexy is good for parts where you want a bit more time before it sets. I would recommend 5K extra thin for normal use with the above applicator. The glue is literally sucked from the applicator straight underneath the part and it grabs almost instantly. Its been a game changer for me .

@@Weld24_CosmicKat That's great I'm sure you'll have better success. Pick up some debonder as well while you at it. It comes in handy cleaning up, for the applicators as well as your models. The music is fire 🔥 Also what superglue do you recommend? Thanks!
@afv-studio3 ай бұрын
Thanks 🕺... I like the VMS range of CA glues but there are other cheaper alternatives. They do need to be flexible CA though otherwise parts will just 'Ping' off at the slightest knock. I use the extra thin mostly and rely on the capillary action to suck the glue under the part being applied. But its worth having some thicker, slower drying CA as well, The black CA is both of these and will give a bit of time to position things like engine deck grills. I will add that parts like stowage boxes(where you fold all the sides around to meet) need soldering as no CA is going to keep those from coming apart at the seams.

What brand of glue did you use for the wheels to stick them on for the track fitting; I desperately need that ?
@afv-studio4 ай бұрын
Its just a few drops of Tamiya extra thin Gregory. There is no need for resin or other thick glues to create a block. As long as you get a few drops on each wheel and leave it to cure (overnight) it's really a strong bond.
@gregoryjcopplin74304 ай бұрын
Sorry i think i meant to ask what was the blue color cement you put down prior to the placing the road wheels then fitting the tracks? It looked like a temporary masking

I use the VMS range of CA, They do a CA for every need, XXX thin or slow drying or black etc. 1 Xthin and 1 thicker slow drying should be enough to do most things that you need CA for.

I love your job! Panther Ausf. G is my favourite tank 🥰 You made a Meng and a Dragon, wich one is the best according to you?
@afv-studioАй бұрын
Thanks...Out of the 2 Dragon wins for me. This kit had a lot more options you could choose from and there was a lot more detail photoetch like the exhaust mounts and spare track holders. They even provide for all the tool racks and the tool clamps etc, but I didn't use those as I struggle with those 3 part tool clamps 😆. The cool thing with the Meng is the air defence armour but dragon do a version of that as well? You do need to check whats in the box though with Dragon as they have many versions of the same kit. The 'premium' kits tend to have everything thrown in the box, and the 'smart kits' are more basic.
@florianfeuillien4367Ай бұрын
@@afv-studio Thank you very much 🫡. And regarding the details (welds, nuts, etc.), in which kit are they the best? I would like to make a Panther of Kampfgruppe Peiper in the Battle of the Bulge but I can't decide between the Meng, the Dragon and the Rye Field Model. I already have aftermarket tracks (so I'm not afraid of Meng tracks 🤣)
@afv-studioАй бұрын
@@florianfeuillien4367 I would still give it to Dragon here as well. the moulding just look a bit sharper than the Meng. The meng welds were good but there were a lot of visible gaps where the main armour joins together which is the reason I replaced all the welds in that video. Also for what you want to build the Meng isn't really an option as its an early Panther G. LAH was completely destroyed at Falaise so all their Panthers during the Ardennes would have been fresh off the factory floor so a later version of the G would be a better fit. I cant speak for RFM as I have not built 1 yet.
