Great series Aaron! Might make for a good entry level project for your students. Brass is a little pricey over there. I find drops on E-Bay as an affordable option.

What a fun project. I might have to give it a go. You're right, brass is getting expensive. I think it would be fun to do a little foundry work. Melt some scraps down and then do the machine work from rough material.
