The $55K education package includes the machine, Mastercam, Blaser Coolant, Kennametal Tools & Holders, SCHUNK Vise, Haimer 3D Sensor, Mitutoyo Inspection Package and Titan of CNC Curriculum. Package Deal is good for schools and private companies. There is also an Incredible Lathe Package for under $50K. If you get both the Mill & Lathe, I think they are like $98K. Which is incredible for this level of machines. Find out more in the description under the KZbin video.

I do not have experience with all the latest and the greatest, but out of Haas, Fanuc, Heidenhain and Okuma machines I have used, I swear by my Okuma Lathe. The most user friendly start and go experience so far. The one I work on does not need air pressure either, besides for parts catcher and maybe some other accessory item. One thing I would like to have with current split screen looking function is to have 2 programs open at the same so you could easily paste copied lines from one to another. Right now have to close one program to paste to another unless I have not figured something out yet.

Override dials are far more intuitive than pressing a flat panel button. Also have a dial for axis selection and override allow the operator to switch things without having to look at the panel every time. It doesn't take long to develop a comfortable feel for the machine.

Why Don’t you set the Z offset for all the tools from the Top of the table to the top of a 1,2,3 block and then Shift the G54 the difference between the Top of Stock and the top of the 1,2,3 block?
@dturner40
@dturner40 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I don’t understand why anybody measures tools off a changing point in space. Just measure them off the table and if the tool stays in the machine, no reason to check it from job to job other than for tool wear. Saves so much time. If you got a laser or touch toolsetter on a machine, you don’t move that toolsetter around from job to job....it always stays in the same Z spot. So do the same even if you are setting manually...your table becomes your toolsetter. Saves so much time with bigger carousel machines.

I prefer EXT Z+ for dry-run and I don't change G54, it's safer to use EXT ( input a positive Z value ) and put it back to Z0 after test-run. Why not using USB-slot instead of CF-slot (memory-card), better is to use the Ethernet connection with the Fanuc Program Transfer Tool software, only $ 24,- I see you run directly from CARD ( BIN-file ) , but the program is only 94 kB, for me I would use the USB and then transfer it into MEM, the CARD-slot is a weak device.

Your tool offsets should be what the tool actually is from the face of of spindle to the tool, it should never be a negative amount. Your tool is the same length no matter what machine you put it in, no matter what job your running.

If you have a pre-setter that may be the case. In this case it didn't look like she had that option. This is a bit more of an old school method. The method here is to always reference the same place when touching off tools. Like a 1-2-3 block of the table of the machine, rather then the top of the work piece surface.

Out of Pure curiosity, can the machinists in the Titan shop program manually? or is it all CAD/CAM experience. Id imagine a lot of manual programming would be a little inadequate for a lot of the parts you guys make, but im curious nonetheless. On another note about probing stock. Referencing one side of the stock and moving half the width/diameter in is good if youre working with dimensions youre absolutely certain of, but quite often the stock can be a little over or under what the supplier says it is, with variation along its length, diameter, or width. unless im squaring stock myself, i always probe both ends of my piece on the x and y axis and find the centre point from there (if im working from the centre of my stock). on properly squared stock its not essential but you get some pretty interesting jobs in machining, and dont always recieve perfect stock like this to cut from.

really surprised you load your programs off of a card most fanucs can use what is called a data server where you are connected to the companies server and you just grab what file you need off of the server. Is that not a 31i?
@ytfan3815
@ytfan3815 3 жыл бұрын
It's based on the Fanuc 0i-F (PLus) Series, on this machine there's RS232 , USB, PCMCIA/CF Card and Ethernet connection. There are connections for FOCAS and Data Server via extra hardware. With the Fanuc Program Transfer Tool, only $24,- (European price) you can Drag 'n Drop files from/to your machine with your office PC via Ethernet. Data Servers and Ethernet connection are there for many years also on old models. This machine has 2Mb (normal 512kB) internal program memory storage for max. 1000 programs, when you use/make BIN-files via CF-Card you can make programs up to 2Gb, that program that create the BIN-files is also $24,- in Europe.

I finished mine a year before covid hit. I would have been pissed if I didn't get to finish before shit shut down. I highly recommend getting a hang of fusion 360 unless you have a copy of whatever you're learning, and also learn manual gcode. Then when class comes you'll be the best. I had years of experience tinkering with cad before I went to school so the cam part was intuitive. I studied the shit out gcode though, and wrote my programs as if they were for production while others use a manual mill to square up their stock, I used my program to do so. Here's my nims cert kzbin.info/www/bejne/bp61hIiYesmDadE

Your parameters on the machine are set up wrong. Get doosan in there to speed up the machine. Mine was lagging in corners like yours and they changed a parameter to have a fast look ahead and faster movement. It shaved 2 mins off of a cycle time and prevented extreme tool wear.
