That's fantastic! Didn't your father Gary Mapp also play with Monk on a trio album featuring Art Blakey? I think it included "Bye-Ya" and "Monk's Dream."

Ppl don’t really recognize the genius of Monk. The solo at 2:45 is noteworthy

Indeed.

This is wicked. All those ghosted notes! Sometimes neither trumpet, saxophone nor piano is playing them and you still feel them. Sometimes, since the low ghost note is a low D for Tenor sax (near the bottom of its range), it jumps out. Wicked.

This was originally on the album "Thelonious Monk at the Blackhawk".

Charlie Rouse and Harold Land on tenor sax.

It isn't Coltrane on tenor on this piece. I think it's Charlie Rouse. Monk takes the best solo himself, as usual -- short, sweet, and to the point.
