Watching the way this thing goes together is amazing. I know its been said a million times but the engineering precision from tamiya is in a different league.

So a couple of points to possibly help with further builds of the 35: For the sensors, all the cameras that aren't the main camera on the bottom should be treated more like a mirror rather than holographic, however the holographic you used on the bottom camera is wholly accurate looking. As for making the aircraft look like it's parked, a vast majority of the time it is parked with the weapons bays open to allow for maintenance, only having them closed whenever either whether dictates or it's a Friday going into a non-working weekend. When it comes to weathering, the degradation of the skin of the A/C from those VFA-147 2021 deployment were due to the way they were maintained. Mostly it goes into whether or not you're wearing protective coverings on boots while on top of the aircraft, as well as the interval and method of washing the aircraft while aboard. Hopefully the current set of 147 aircraft do not weather nearly as bad in future underways, but we'll see. Fantastic build, and it looks incredible all around!

Excellent work! My only gripe with the available F-35 models is how defined they mold the RAM panels. While they can be seen person, the plane, when viewed in the proper angle, is smooth...no raised areas around those panels. The Have Glass sheen is dulled a bit where the tape is, and is visible in the reflection as a darker area, but viewed straight on, is discernable, but not raised like all these kits suggest. At least not as much...its just thin tape on the actual plane. That's not a critique of your build though, just of the kit(s) in general. I wish there was a way on here to share some good close-up shots of both an A and C variant that I got at the Blue Angels Homecoming Airshow this past November.
@Unyielding_Modeller2 ай бұрын
I watched this build with interest! Personally, I prefer when typical F-35B features are displayed, like the pivoting exhaust and lift fan intake/exhaust. I’m also not entirely sold on your choice of colours, but at the end of the day, it’s your model to build as you please. I still enjoyed watching your build and want to thank you for taking the time to film it! 🙏

Thank you! I completely agree with your comment but I have made two other F35's on the channel with everything deployed so I thought I would try something different.
@AllThingsCubey2 ай бұрын
Have to agree on the colours, I'm afraid. To each their own, and I'm absolutely going to experiment with that liquitex ink technique instead of more messy salt weathering, but the have-glass grey, with a matt varnish and a brown wash, does not resemble F-35 surface finish to me. These planes have a subtle metallic sheen and a blue-ish hue, where this is yellow-tinted, matte, and looks too light.

@ls1423ls2 ай бұрын
I mean it spends most of its time in this configuration and he’s already built one in the vertical landing config so I can see why he might want one like this.
@glennzoontjens9875Ай бұрын
Cool build and more importantly it looked like you enjoyed it. Did you find it any easier doing the ink technique vs doing a mottling preshade with an airbrush. On a different note, a couple of little things: You’ve got training/inert load GBU-12 but the marking on the AIM-9X indicates a live motor and warhead. Training/inert bombs (unlike missiles) aren’t for flying so you wouldn’t have a pilot boarding the a/c (& I’m not sure they use RBF tags on the either because they aren’t used when flying). Others have already mentioned the pilot boarding the a/c with FOD guards & RBF tags still in place, but the pilot should always do a walk around to confirm that the a/c is ready for flight.
@stephengilmore274114 күн бұрын
Emm, I'm sorry. But to claim that blue-marked inert bombs are "not for flying" is just wrong. I'm not sure where you're getting that or why you think they exist? Google 'training/inert/blue GBU-12' and prepare to be astounded. The exist precisely to be flown and to mimic the real thing's weight distribution and flight model. That's the point.

Another great build, just a shame you don't show the full detail of such a detailed and expensive model. The only thing for me is the RAM tape is usually quite distinctive from the main body colour, and would give it more depth. But that's a personal thing. Top job 👍
@paulshrimplin40322 ай бұрын
For your pilot, you could have put flesh wash over his face to pull out the details, but it is bland to buy flesh wash for war gaming paints. Nevertheless, you did a nice job..Also flight tags and covers would be removed before the pilot entering the cockpit ,

12:30 the degrading is only present for F-35s that are being operated well around a shit ton of salt water. i find it a shit argument as it affects every other aircraft. It is just more obvious on the F-35 because of the RAM coating and the colours it turns when salt water is presented to it.
