4:25 - Correction. Secret of Mana is Seiken Densetsu 2. Seiken Densetsu 3 is what some people called Secret of Mana 2 as part of fan translations, but now officially it's Trials of Mana with the recent remake, as well as part of the official translated compilation that came out a few years ago.

It's amazing that you stopped by Nintendo's HQ while you were in Kyoto. Not to mention the Fushimi Inari-taisha shrine as well, which (fun fact) was a massive inspiration behind the Star Fox series by Nintendo. The kitsune statues guarding the shrine inspired the series' protagonist Fox McCloud, while the ten thousand torii inspired the space runway/gate that you take off from and land in.
@MachoNachoProductions Жыл бұрын
That is a really cool fact! Now I need to play some Star Fox!

@@MachoNachoProductions FYI, PC Engine was one of biggest consuls of the 8bit/16bit era in Japan. So if that one was an early edition and mint/unopened, it might explain its high price. It was still too expensive, but then you could understand why the owner was trying to mark it up.

11:20 ugh. I saw both Thunder Force 3, maybe 4, and ESWAT this weekend at the CT retro game expo at a fair price and almost picked them up. I told myself I wasn't spending any more money, kinda wish I got at least one of them. I guess I missed Nacho & Retro Rick there unfortunately, they were nowhere in sight when I was there. Every major store chain globally should study how Japanese stores use floorspace to their maximum. I live in Australia and they stock stores here like it's a movie set, so much wasted space devoted to one low volume product. As a result variety really s*cks and I commonly have to bounce between 2 different supermarket chains to get one moderate shopping list done.

$40 for a boxed n64 Biohazard 2 is pre-pandemic price... you'll never see that price again. And since you shared the names of every store.. guaranteed deals will dry up soon. In a couple years Japanese game hunting will soon be just as expensive as in the US because of social media.
@grafxgear Жыл бұрын
There will always be the obstacle of having to know how to read Japanese, especially for RPGs. And while it's cool to just own a few games, theres not a lot of enjoyment unless you can actually play them. That's left pacing relatively low for quite some time.
