I can see signs of leaky capacitors on both boards. On the first logic board, it's especially pronounced around UB7 and UH6. That second logic board is actually a Classic II logic board (note the 68030 and 10MB RAM limit vs. the 68000 and 4MB RAM limit on the Classic), and it too appears to be suffering from leaky caps at least around the Egret chip.

I envy your access to a decent e-waste source...

EWWs were always one of my favorite segments. Glad to see them being continued!

That second, different-looking logic board is a Classic II motherboard; ir has a 68030 on it. It's a sizable upgrade from the original Classic, though not as good as an SE/30.

I hadn't noticed the printer but just before the cut it was audible now that it was pointed out. :D Not too distracting though.

Surprised the batteries haven't exploded and eaten the board IC legs off. I had two Classics rendered into e-waste that way.

Did you check the analog boards for cracked solder joints? I worked on an SE/30 once that had lots of them.

Yep

My immediate suspicion would be: The first mainboard has a short between supply rails. Any analog board would either cycle on and off trying to raise voltages on it, or would just blow up outright.

The battery may have been removed from the first board, but it clearly leaked before removal.

i have to get all my e-waste from the side of the road.....a few good scores, but nothing like this

The second board looks like a Classic II board in layout, and with the 68030 CPU it indeed would be a Classic II. That board will perform better than the stock Classic board. Both the Classic and Classic II are notorious for leaky caps on their analog boards which impact operations.

I can see this post only on KZbin for the iPhone. Not on the pc. Weird. On KZbin from the PC browser this post doesn’t exists…

Thanks for the heads up. It seems to be working fine for me on my non-creator accounts. Anyone else having trouble?

@@RetroHackShackAfterHours I think I figured it out. On the PC I’m on a VLAN with content filtering enabled and this video for some reason is blocked. My VLAN is managed by an UDM-pro.

@thepresi2 Ah glad that's all it was.

Please don't trash any with a broken CRT; there may be new/old stock CRTs floating around out there.
