You sound a lot better. Glad the cold/flu is gone.

What are you using to dampen the q-tips? I’d love to have something like that instead of dipping it into an alcohol bottle.

So today (well yesterday really) I fe'd up. Back in the summer I got from FB Market place a slot 1 Pentium III motherboard with ram, and cpu in hopes of building a 9x era gaming machine due to lack of a beige case it's now a reverse sleeper. Anyway instead of spinning rust I'm using a pair of sd to ide adapters powered by a sata to Molex splitter, well I figured to make it easy to get to the sd cards I'd use those 3m command strips to mount the adaptors in the HDD bays. I didn't think to cover the pins on the back of the PCBs, basically the pins to the Molex header grounded to the case and literally burned up one of the Molex splitter red wires, so yeah I not only almost killed hardware but nearly started a fire. The basement still smells like burnt electronics aka the magic blue smoke... Edit I should say the coding on the wire completely melted away leaving the bare wire behind

Those SD -> IDE adapters have no shielding or anything on them. When I had one, before I switched to just using hard disks, I used a bunch of electrical tape to cover up all the contacts. Also, molex to sata adapters can be really bad news.

Are you replacing your surface mount capacitors with electrolytics? Or are you using something like tantalums or polymers?
