This song wouldn't exist had it not been for a few words spoken by my 5 year-old nephew Kai one cold day last year. A sudden streak of sunlight shone through the car window right into his little hazel eyes, prompting him to say to me, "Hey Yee - I'm gonna be shy to the sun." I laughed at first then quickly realized just how poetic that sounded. Naturally, I went home and wrote the entire song that very day. So, here's to the moments we feel shy to the sun, to the days we need to hide away and realign ourselves with what truly matters. Love you guys. I really hope "Sun Shy" speaks to you. - MJ

Hi Mackenzie, I think you are an amazing human being for being so honest. Speaking for myself, I couldnt share these feelings that are so deep inside. I think that many, many people can relate to you-- weather they have a once in awhile down day, or they have clinical depresion, and everything inbetween. How did you get so honest? plus, you are an incredible song writer, you are extremly talented. I could never make up a song like that.
