@@simonedamsgard7461 that’s a fact. Recommend reading before thinking this is serious fantasy. This is called gateway fantasy. There is only higher level from these. There are no book tiers where these books hit the top. ACOTAR is no more than some love/soft p@rn story hidden in fantasy. In the very first book there are 3 different sexual assaults against the main character from her later love interest. From any sane woman in life that closes out him, but somehow the readers can’t see that. The prose is cheap and reparative. It tells you what to think not shows you and you decide what to think about something. Missing a lot of descriptions in favor of sexual scenes. So that’s simply bad. Maas somewhere lost her moral compass. And she never bothered herself with prose. Her fans will read it anyway.

@@Bookish7 that series looks like first as a big deal. If we look from far. Big bad war for continents!! But at the very first book we get a main character who is an assassin yet does less than talks about herself. The story immediately tells who will be the bad guys (the evil king, the evil accomplice, and the big bad enemy at the tournament) and from that point basically nobody else counts. Nothing happens in the book. Hundreds of pages of nothing. Jump. Evidently she will fight at the end with that guy and she goes with two others love and of course she has one friend who (more predictable) will be hurt or killed. That’s it, she wins. I told you the full story of the first book without letting out serious things. Our main character has no real agency, the guy Chaol is a b…h, but the really insufferable guy is the prince. He is just a one dimensional character. At least yet. The dead friend is not important she needed to die, (the very single character who will die in the series and she is the only dark skin color character too in her friends 😂 - Maas is known that she can’t handle well this). So that book in 50% does nothing. The other half happens some little action and stuff. And in 20% counts really for the series. And that’s true for all the books.

Mine was a good girl’s guide to murder no question. I bought it because it was one of the books Isaac read in heartstopper and I knew it had to be good if it was being promoted, but I didn’t pick it up until 8-9 months later. It’s my favourite trilogy of all time and probably my top 5 star read from this year
