This is so confusing because in the manual says the CR out it's for connecting studio monitors. But here in the video it's saying to use the main out outputs

Dose anyone know why when I play music from my phone into a little speaker I have it sounds kinda echoey and there are little to no vocals but when I plug me earbuds in directly to my phone it sounds normal.

I just bought one of these, to work with my Bose L-1 Compact; w/the "Tone Match" mixer, I only have 4 inputs/channels, but sometimes (like when I host "open mic" night) I need more inputs/channels..this "Mix-8" says it's "8 channels" but there seems to be only 4 on the unit...also, guitar inputs are not mentioned, can guitars not be used with this mixer? You mention "drum machines and mics", but not guitars...forgive me for my ignorance, I'm not very "techy" (obvious, hey?)

+james parker It has 2 mono input chanels, 2 stereo input channels and 1 stereo output channel for a total of 8 channels.

+Morten Drescher Salling Wow...I apologize...I just can't wrap my head around this..."back in the day" (I'm 53), mixers had corresponding channels to how many inputs (by "input", I mean 1/4" jacks and/or xlr jack, and by "channel" I mean a vertical row of buttons for input level, gain, eq. etc.); so a "8 channel mixer" (for example) had just that - 8 physical, identical inputs, and 8 physical, identical channels....am I safe to conclude that this thing really doesn't have "8 channels" in this traditional sense; rather, the "8 channel" designation means that, basically, the total of everything it can do (input and output) equals 8? And am I correct or no, to contrast, thus: on an "old style" 8 channel mixer (as I described above) I could input, for example, 2 vocal mics, 1 guitar, 1 bass, and 4 drum mics, and "mix" them all separately for gain, eq, etc., whereas on this "Mackie 8" I could not do that, could I? (again, I apologize, and I thank you for your patience; you never encountered a "right-brain/left brain" canyon like me!!)

I am by no means an expert. This is my very first mixer and I only use it a mic when I do Skype and Discord. I looked it up because I was wondering the same thing as you. And I can see I wrote it wrong. It is the Aux return that counts as the last two channels.

+Morten Drescher Salling Thanx for this...I think what is going on on my end, is just the technological changes/advances over the last 30 or so years, w/drum machines, dj equipment, skype, etc. ; since I haven't "kept up" with it all, I get confused by such as this mixer which makes sense in the modern context, but which leaves an old fuddy-duddy like me scratchin' my head...

I just realized that this mixer has no power switch. Why is that? I mean the cost for you guys is $0,10 for a switch. I mean won't it make a sort noise everytime you plug in the power cord? In the long term won't it ruin the capacitors in the output stage? It just doesn't make any sense at all. And what if you don't have access to the rear of the mixer if you've mounted it between other equipment? Probably (I'm guessing) lots of users will leave it powered on or put an ON/OFF switch on the power cord.

To connect a Mix8 to a computer you will want an audio interface like this one mackie.com/products/onyx-series-usb-interfaces
