Yeah, but guitar effects units usually buffer the input so it would be an unbalanced signal- so just don't run super long cables if they're unbalanced!

A little confused here. I have a Mix 8 and an external effects device that has a single TRS stereo input. Would using a TRS cable from the Mix 8's Aux Send send a stereo signal to my effects device?

No sir. Aux send is mono, as stated in the manual. In fairness, this is all confusing AF! The reason so many folks who could otherwise get by on 4 channels end up buying a 1202 is because it's the cheapest one with two AUX sends, meaning that you can hard pan everything L + R with two channels. It is, to be polite, a massive pain in the ass.

On a Mackie 802vlz (with no AUX RETURN) the return cables goes to ST RETURN? So from AUX SEND to the compressor and back to the mixer to ST RETURN. Am I right?

That's correct. My 10 channels Behringer mixer has no AUX return jack, so when I plugged my ALESIS NANOVERB EFFECTS PROCESSOR to FX SEND to Left input of Nanoverb, the Stereo output from NanoVerb I connect it to two available Stereo jack on the Mixer and it works good.

I've plugged boss rv-6 reverb pedal effect as a send effect, but hear literally no reverb at all even on AUX +15 setting on a channel. I wonder what's the problem?

Did you plug in the output back into the mixer anywhere? Also, pedals have different impedances then line input effects units. You need to have a "re-amp" box to send line level signal to guitar pedal and then have a direct box to get from the pedal back into the mixer at line level.

Most gear is a mono input and output, why because most of the time it will come either directly to the console or come in from a patchbay either way you don’t use a stereo cable . It’s a mono 1/4 cable or XLR. There should be a Left and Right fader to adjust were you want a instrument to be either right or left. All mixers input are mono as well as the direct outs, the only stereo out is the main outs. You should get a balanced cable. Most gear will have two inputs and outputs both being mono not stereo unless it is a stereo processor

I wish you guys could help me with this: I have a korg kaoss pad (the first basic kaoss pad not pro not kp III or whatever) and I want to use it to process audio signal coming from aux send and send it back again to aux return. The thing is that aux send is mono and the kaoss pad input is stereo (two RCA inputs) then mix8 aux return is stereo how should I connect my unit? thanks

Exactly. It doesn't allow you to process two independent signals, which is stereo. You will be sending a mono signal then splitting it into pseudo stereo. This is a limitation of the mixer.

You can return the effects directly into a channel strip, but make sure to not then send that return channel out to the processor or you’ll get a nasty feedback loop.

so on the MIx12FX, If i go FX Send to input on say a compressor/gate and return to the 9/10 channel, I should be able to apply the compressor/gate to all the channels by adjusting the FX knob for each channel? Are the built in effects disabled when doing this?

You can disable FX with the FX to Main knob. But, the issue you will run into is that the FX Send per channel is post fader. This means that your compression would have to run in parallel to the dry main mix which isn't what you want. Your best bet is just running it between your mixer and the next destination for the audio.

You would need to get 1/4" to RCA cables. Stereo Aux sends are not necessary as long as you return both the L and R from the Kaoss Pad. Just connect the Aux Send to the Kaoss, turn up the Aux Master, then turn up the channel you want to send through the Kaoss.

Then you can plug the return to any Stereo rca jack or any two Line in jack say 3/4 or 5/6 as long it's available.

+Dunky's N Demos Yes, but only 2 mics since there are only 2 mic inputs on the mixer. To get a mono out, you can pan all the input channels right and come out of the right main out. The Mix12FX has more mic inputs.

Yes you can use it with your speakers. You will need a 1/8" to RCA cable to hook it up to the Tape In on the mixer.

You can only do this if you are returning the output of the mixer to something other then the mixer itself (ie a recording device or another mixer).

Don't worry about not having stereo effects sends? This is bullshit if you want to process to separate stereo signals. He's processing a mono signal. You would need two aux sends, two returns, and two pots. Don't worry about? Okay. I'll just sacrifice one of my two stereo signals because this dork said so.

I wish I knew about how their strip down mixers don't have simple aux returns. Now I have to waste one of the stereo channels THAT I NEED 9/10 (the whole reason for buying a bigger mixer) on the mixer. What a waste don't buy Mackie!
