MrCamz after watching your video and doing some research I upgraded the woofers on my Mackie Thumps 15A. I went with two (2) 15” 8ohm 800W low frequency transducer. The transformation is incredible. I’ve used them at two gigs so far. No need to bust out my subs!

Here is a tip... I did the same, except I used a very efficient 8 ohm PRV woofer for the low frequency with a high input sensitivity of 95db so the amplifier is less strained and the woofer gets louder with less power and for the hf driver I used an 4 screw to 1 inch "screw-on" adapter your concern is that the molded horn would break off with added weight of the new compression driver for highs not an issue here, anyways the speaker sounds great now!
@joeycastillo52512 жыл бұрын
Also this speaker amp is a Pascal Upro-2 it actually delivers 280W @ 8 ohms to the woofer and 110W @4 ohm to high frequency driver so round 390W RMS are coming from the amp. 1300W its Peak rating and you willl rarely get that out of the mackie thump! ;)
@MrCamz282 жыл бұрын
Awesome. It does makes a big difference. I did end up getting that four screw aluminum adapter and added a emenince driver to it. Sounds way better and clean. Bass hits so good and I do know it’s not a subwoofer only but I do regulate the Audio accordantly. I still have this speakers playing four to five times a month since I am a Dj.

I am 24 years old and i'ma DJ and i wanna get the Mackie Thump15A and i do live with my parents still too. My parents will probably not let me replace the woofers with that bigger magnet and bigger voice coil version. I would love to get those but my parents might not let me do that which frickin sucks..... They think i have ' plenty of speakers ' and ' you have to many speakers ' ( i legit have 2 QSC K10 K2 DJ speakers, about 7 Klipsch Home theater speakers and Klipsch 10 inch subwoofer. if i were to get the Thump15A's, should i replace the woofers right away?

@MrCamz285 жыл бұрын
Eddie Cummings Sorry to heard that. The manufacturer did a big mistake by putting a cheap woofer for weight differences and not for performance. That’s one of the reasons I replaced them before they ended up burning them selfs. Also another thing on the original Mackie woofer the magnets are cheap as well. They end of breaking off from the frame during time.

@mannyrivera11224 жыл бұрын
Hi. Did is the amp keeping up whit it? And did you upgrade the high driver. ?
@MrCamz284 жыл бұрын
Hi Manny Riverattrt yes the speaker sounds awesome and been keeping up with zero issues. I was thinking of upgrading the drivers but I need an adapter to do so. the driver to upgrade its a lot heavier and bigger. Makes me think that if I do so it will break the horn housing. So I left it like that. Plus the driver on the Mackie is 4 ohms and the upgrades are 8 ohms so I didn’t want to mess around with the specs or else it wouldn’t sound good no more.
