Awesome aray of antennas! Love ti see what others have. Wish I would've recorded back in the late '70's when I was setting up my first and best station. A Sigma 5/8 on 40' push up and a Moonraker 4 on a 30' tower. When my parents moved they left the tower and beam. Took down everything else with them. From the house in So California. I will rebuild again when I get back to Michigan again with some space. Myles

cool thanks, the guy bought it new in 1977 took it down in 1980 so it's in great shape, I'm loving your tower... some day I'll get beams someday

Propagation has been very good here in Illinois as well. We've been getting conditions from many different directions through the day and well into the night lately. Congrats on your like new Robyn WV-23. 73's Paul

Thanks. The Sigma 5/8 is a very good antenna. The flaw with them is water getting into the tubing. Especially in the main mast and the matching loop. My friend who had one of these up didn't get his completely sealed with silicone and water got into his matching loop, froze, and split it. Best advice I have is to tape and then silicone over the tape all joints or any area that looks like water can penetrate into them. I have his Sigma 5/8 now and I may put it up someday. 73's Paul

Thank you. It will happen someday. It took many many years until I reached a point in my life where I could have a beam in the air. 73's Paul

Thank you Myles. I'm the same, like to see what others have. The Sigma 5/8 and Moonraker 4 were good antennas. A friend of mine traded me a Avanti Sigma 5/8. I haven't fiddled with it yet but I may install it someday. He bought it new old stock but ran it for a year before it came to me. Have to seal them well because water intrusion is big issue I can understand space constraints. Many people have that problem. I hope when you get moved you will have the room to install any you want. 73's Paul

Thank you. I talked to some of my local friends for a little bit last night. There seems to be only a very minor RX gain over my V-Quad but the TX gain is more significant. You'd think the gain for both would be close to equal. Will let you know more about how it performs after I run it for a while. 73's Paul

Not long ago KZbin was commonly not sending emails out when someone you were subscribed to uploaded a new video. Even if you had it set to get the emails. It seems they fixed it recently. I know I missed a lot of videos when that was going on. Including some of yours until I found them later. Thanks. I hope some decent propagation returns as well. For DX most times the Hor/Vert thing is not a big issue. The angle the DX signal bounces back down to earth tends to constantly change. Not always..

Thank you Ian. I emailed Maco/Charles Electronics last night about clarifying something in their instructions for me. I might have to re-space my elements depending on the reply I get from them. They had a very vague statement in the element assembly and mounting section that I feel was important but uninterpretable by me. 73's Paul

Hello Tony. Maybe someday in the future you'll be someplace where you can put up a directional array. I'm very thankful I'm somewhere I can put antennas like this up. I put it up vertically for gain when talking to my locals. All the locals in my area run vertical and some are over 50 miles away. Therefore I needed the vertical gain. My Maco V-quad is going to be on a smaller tower in horizontal polarization for DX. I've got the Lafayette HE-20C finished as well. Video to come. 73's Paul

That 4 element beam will out talk that V-Quad all day long locally & on DX.the V-Quad is pure garbage.

I have a 5 element Maco.. Its 27' long and the maco 6 element is only 31' long. I should have just got the 6 element and called it a day...

What did you ever end up with with your maco 4 element as far as element length and spacing to get it to work on the upper frequencies

I have a tower just like that. If I was going to put up an 11 meter beam the M104C is the one I would put up. Outstanding job. Lemme know how it performs for you. 73 de N0RJP

Cool antenna Paul! I sure wish I could have a beam ant. like that one, but property lines and power & telephone lines galore over in my yard , so no can do. I do have one question and forgive me if you have answered it already, why do you have it in the vertical instead of horizontal position? Better ears? Any way take care Paul - Tony P S Glad to see U got the cobra 98 finished up. 73!

How come your not working the antenna horizontal? I see you have your s vertical. Horizontally would be better distance wise.

hey i know this is old but have you had any trouble with the mast bending or breaking? i`m useing 2" rigid and man its so heavy it all came down last week in a tordado but now going up with a 4el like yours and want to use smaller mast being its a smaller ant and ill mount it vert like yours. also have a thrust bearing so no weight on rotor. what size mast do you have? 73s from Ga

V-Quad is the worst base CB beam Antenna I have ever used of any kind.Gave mine away because my A/S Starduster M-400 kicked it's butt every day of the week.
