Moral of the Story " Macro Videography is Expensive " 😂😂

Great video! I'm starting to understand a little bit more about macro, thanks to you. I do struggle with what settings I should use on my camera, though. I have a ZV-E10 and just bought the 30mm F3.5 lens, but I can't really understand what I need to change to make it look better. Do you have a video explaining macro settings for recording, or any tips?

Thanks for the tips. Unfortunately, the Slypod comes with the MOZA app which is catastrophically bad.

Hey Joey, how you keep the focus on the subject while using the slider? I'm trying to use auto-focus but I'm getting awful results as it keeps trying to find the focus and don't lock it at the subject.

Nice slypod review. Let us know when you do a video on how to film product shots.

So you have the probe lens, an a7 III, a manual slider, an aperture 120D, and the mini light from the aperture. What else would you get to have a solid starting gear for product/macro videography? :)
@Joey_Helms3 жыл бұрын
That's a great starting point. Possibly a lazy Susan would be helpful to add more motion to it and you can get them for fairly sheep.

@@Joey_Helms thanks so much! Do you find it bad to do free demos for brands and send them what you can do with their products in order to get leads? I am just starting out as an aspiring videographer, hope you don't mind the question..

Very informative video exactly what I needed. I just received my Laowa 24mm lens and was on a hunt for a motorized slider to pair it with the lens. The Moza Slypod was on the list but unfortunately a lot of complained about the micro jitters you get from it. Any other options you recommend me to go for?
@Joey_Helms4 жыл бұрын
thanks! I have been using the Edelkrone SliderOne for most shots with the Laowa which works out just fine without those kind of macro shots
@Ghassan.albalushi4 жыл бұрын
Joey Helms looking into the Edelkrone as well seems like a solid option. The Slypod E was recently released as well apparently it performs better than the older Slypod.
@Joey_Helms4 жыл бұрын
Have the Slypod E in my mailbox, hope to try it next week. Check in then ;)

I am interested to hear thoughts on this as well. I ended up returning both the Edelkrone SliderOne and the Rhino Arc II because of micro jitters as well as odd movements while trying to do parallax moves.

Hi! Any idea on a substitute for the Laowa probe? Any macro lens could work for macro shots? (focal length?) thank you
@sluxbalboa3 жыл бұрын
Laowa lens is too expensive. Isn't there a cheaper solution? I would like to film a drop sliding on the glass in slow motion.
@Joey_Helms3 жыл бұрын
Just try a fast macro lens. The Laowa Probelens is way too slow for a slow Mo shot anyways unless you have super strong lights.

Could you not just use a post process stabiliser in your software to remove shakes from your slider? The shaking did not look very bad at all from what I could see, this would be a piece of cake to perfectly stabilise in post.
@Joey_Helms2 жыл бұрын
Yes in many cases it works. However if you have rolling shutter movement it all can look wabbly real fast.

4:19 what kind of gear extension ring do you use for optimization of your focus pulling game with the probe lens?

Great information, been watching your videos for awhile, and I m starting a watch channel too, now the biggest challenge for me is the turntable, under Macro the turntable is not 100% smooth.....

yeah getting smooth shots in the macro world is incredibly tricky, luck and stabilisation in post also play a role ;)
